Ah! Finally some recognition.

I mentioned to a friend that I'm taking steroids. She said that the talk of steroids reminded her that spring training is right around the corner. Ah, the boys of summer.

Can you throw the overhand curve yet? Mariano Rivera can teach you his tricks, if you want.

Has Mariano fully recovered from his injury?

I'm not good with curve balls. Better with speed. Also, accuracy is not a strong suit of mine.

When I'm at bat, should the horsehide ever actually touch the wood, I know which direction to hobble in.

(I was better at punch ball. No tools. Nothing fancy.)

You may be sorry this came up. Remembering my days as a customer at Yankee Stadium. In as deep a voice as I could muster, I would yell, "Hit it, Mickey," and about three times out of ten, Mickey would hit it. Far. Very, very far.

I could go on. But I'll control myself.

Mariano has made a decision about retirement but won't tell us what it is yet, last I read.

I had raw onions last night. I think they're the culprit. I had a heartburn you shouldn't know from it. I took some Mylanta, and things seemed to settle down.

Woke up early for my Bellevue appointment today. A stomach ache you shouldn't know from it. More Mylanta. I rescheduled the appointment. Now there's nothing between me and the surgery but a few days--and a stomach ache.

I gotta get to the drug store later. I need five prescriptions refilled. I usually call, but the one for steroids isn't refillable, so I gotta bring it in person.

Maybe by then my stomach will be behaving.

If it is, great. If it ain't, I gotta go anyway.

And how are you guys?

BTW, Bunny, I was hoping to get your take on the kvetching/pain in the ass issue. But you didn't come back.

Kvetchers are vocal. They don't like some stuff and what they don't like they let you know about. A lot.

Pains in the ass don't like some stuff. They are vocal. They let people know when they don't like something. A lot. Sometimes being vocal about what you don't like means people do something about what you don't like.

Thanks for the return, Deb. (I never thought you were a boomerang. Just a responder/pal type.) I appreciate the input. It makes sense to me mostly. I view kvetching as very specific. I view being a pain in the ass as broader (not my ass). I can be difficult when nothing is wrong.

I'm sitting here waiting for my stomach to calm down so I can go back to sleep. The phone rings. It's the doctor from Bellevue I was supposed to see today. She's calling to ask me not to come. The computers are down, and everything is a mess. I told her that I had already changed the appointment. If I didn't have a stomach ache, I would have been on my way.

Life is sometimes strange.

BTW, Hurricane Sandy strikes again. New system--not quite working right.

Glad I avoided the mess at the hospital. Very glad not to have to shell out for a round trip cab ride for nothing.
