By all means, continue, dadpad. Maybe you should start a separate thread--How Many Ways Can We Find to Call Roberta Stupid?

The reality is a thread like that would be one of the shortest threads on A2k.

*Waves to Izzie. man all the hot chicks come to this thread

@Roberta,
Taxes? What day is it? 4/5 -- still single digits. Plenty of time yet!

G'luck with the swallow thingy.

@JPB,
JPB, This is the earliest I ever got my taxes done! Single digits. You're right. Plenty of time. The place I went does taxes for free. Only open on Tuesdays between ten and two. Didn't wanna wait till next week. Think of the rampaging hordes.

My major concern with the barium swallow is getting home in time. Oh, and if they find something not good. I'm hoping they find something, which might help with my breathing. The choking has diminished significantly since I started taking the med.

@Izzie,
Izzie- On my first computer, after some time, I found that I could not sign in to one of my sites. After a lot of frustration, I discovered that one of the letters in my keyboard was kaput....................and that letter was part of my password......twice.

I now use that password, and it is probably a much stronger one than the original, as it makes absolutely no sense without the missing letter.

@Izzie,
Your message without the Os reminds me of the manuscript I'm working on.

Back from Bellevue. Got bariumed. Not a bad experience. My asthma doc was right. I am aspirating some stuff--when I gulp. I gotta sip from now on. I can sip, but I'll feel the loss when I have my milk and cookies. Love to gulp that ice cold milk.

I'm being considered for a study of people who had radiation to their throat. I signed on, but I need more info (training) to see whether I'll follow through.

My stomach is making a racket--from the barium. Shut up, gut.

I asked the docs how fast the barium would travel through me. I was assured that this was not a problem. In fact, it might make me constipated. Wrongo. You don't want to know from the mess. Trust me. Also, that stuff stains.

For the first time in my professional life, I turned back a project. It's a mess. Beyond mess. I didn't think I could get the job done on schedule. I was told that they wanted to evaluate my work on the first chapter--that I might not be the right editor for the job. I said no before they did. This makes me feel a bit sick. I have no other work.

Another glorious week with the dentist and therapy yet to come.

Aaaaaaaaaaaargh. Feh. And phooey.

@Roberta,
Sigh.

Better no editing mess I guess.

Let us hope a wonderfully mess-less dream job turns up.

Back from the dentist. In a rage--anger and frustration. What's she carrying on about now? you're wondering, rolling your eyes. (I bet you thought I didn't know that.)

Medicaid doesn't cover all teeth!! thud. No coverage at all for my back teeth. **** them--and me. That's where most of the pain is coming from. It covers some things for the middle teeth. Root canal yes, but cap for the tooth canaled, no. It covers everything for my front teeth. What genius laid awake at night coming up with this plan? Tooth by tooth coverage!

(Note: Dry mouth is a side effect of radiation. Dry mouth rots your teeth. Some are already loose.)

Minor anger: I'm used to waiting. Certainly at Bellevue the waits can be inhumane. However, I understand waiting when the doctor is busy. But today I had to wait almost forty minutes because there were no dental chairs available. All taken. I saw dental students wandering around looking for chairs for their patients, shrugging their shoulders as they pass each other. I asked the student when the best time to come would be. When can we get a chair? First thing in the morning. So next time my appointment is at 8:30. I'll go to sleep when I get home.

Snarrrrrrl. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

@Roberta,
That's thud-worthy.

Tooth-by-tooth coverage?

Good grief.

Teeth are not just pretty white things that you flash when you smile -- dental problems can have real medical repercussions (aside from the inherent problems of having tooth decay -- pain, etc.)

What's your next step? Can the social worker do something?

@sozobe,
soz, Don't know what my next step is. I need to talk to the social worker and the lawyer (he's the one who helped me with the Medicaid application).

While I try to find out what to do about my back teeth, the front ones (they're the ones that are loose--can't bite into an apple) will be treated.

Another aggravation from Medicaid: Can't have separate reading and seeing glasses. Gotta have bifocals. Bifocals don't work when I'm working. I'm not just looking down. I'm looking all over the place. Gotta get a letter from my doc. It may help; it may not. In the meantime the world is blur. Just as well. I can't clearly see how my teeth are rotting out of my mouth.

@Izzie,
Izzie, As I write, the news is filled with the possibility that the US federal government is gonna shut down.

Health care ain't the only problem we have on this side of the pond, but it's high on my list.

@Roberta,
That sounds like a cross between Kafkaesque and Orwellian.
