@littlek,
Me too, littlek. The leg issue won't come up again until I see the internist. The breathing issue may not be resolved for a while. Gotta see the ENT. Gotta get some kinda barium test. Gotta, gotta, gotta. If all this stuff helps, then I'll deal with the gottas.

Just pondering. I've had breathing problems for years. Hospitalized for nine days. Emergency room visits up the wazoo. But today's visit with the doc was only my second visit to the asthma clinic. Nobody mentioned it until a few months ago.

I'm impressed with the asthma doc. She's looking at lots of possibilities. Getting lots of detailed info.

You saw me try to get to the Frying Pan. Breathing and walking problems. Picture me today in the cold schlepping around the jewelry exchange. No stamina at all.

BTW, I said a few days ago that I have a lot of trouble standing up. So I'm in the ladies' room at Bellevue. There's nothing for me to grab onto to stand up. Uh oh. Picturing myself muttering from behing the door: "I haven't fallen, but I can't get up." I finally managed. More determination than anything else. How much of life's ignominy do I have to bear? "Well she expired on a bowl in the Bellevue ladies' room. We found her mummified remains just a few days ago. She looked like the mother in Psycho."

@Roberta,
Now there's an image! I'm glad the docs are looking at the asthma!

@littlek,
I'm glad the docs are taking a closer look at the asthma, too, littlek. It's high time.

Just back from the jewelry exchange. I haven't been sleeping well, so I figured I'd stay up and get stuff taken care of. Did I know it was gonna snow? No.

Went through my bling collection and pulled out a few baubles that were my mother's (never worn by me--no sentimental value). Got enough to pay one month's rent and utility bills.

Was I ripped off? Have no idea. Could I have done better? Maybe. Did I get even close to a fair price. Don't know that either. But I do know that I will have peace of mind for now. You can't put a price on that. Sigh. Maybe I'll be able to sleep if I ever get to bed.

On the way back from the jewelry exchange, the cab driver went through Central Park. Gorgeous. Beautiful. White. Wonderful. And I saw a squirrel (wildlife) crossing the road!

All in all not a bad Thursday (it's still Thursday until I go to sleep and wake up).

@Roberta,
Glad you have a little peace of mind for a bit...and saw the snowy Central Park and the squiggle there.

And sleep already.

We had some snow. Cancelled an appointment at the hospital. I have enough trouble walking on solid dry ground. Don't wanna be messing with ice and snow.

The appointment was with the psychiatrist. I'll see two psychologists on Friday. I need somebody to help get my head back on straight.

Hope you are all well.

Just had a semi-unpleasant conversation with the building manager. He doesn't know how long the landlord will let me run behind in the rent. Sigh. (And a little nauseous.) Also throwing in an oy--just on general principle.

Just got off the phone with the IRS. Another oy. Forty minutes on hold to find out they don't have what I'm missing.

Gotta make another phone call. It will have to wait until tomorrow, cuz there's only so much holding and waiting I can take in one day.

It's three in the afternoon, and I haven't been to sleep yet. Life gets stranger and strangerer.

A box of clothes arrived today.

I'm currently wearing something of the contents. A toasty warm ankle length sweatery kinda thing. Beautiful dark green blue. Perfect for winter days at home.

Gigantic thanks to the butterfly and the bee. When it comes to bugs, you guys are da best. When it comes to humans, you ain't bad either.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

@Roberta,
I've gotten further into the box. I have a wonderful new coat. I have winter slacks in a variety of colors (I've been wearing cotton). I have a bunch of wonderful new tops.

New duds can lift a person's spirits. My spirits were in dire need of lifting. Thanks again to butrflynet and bumblebeeboogie.

I'm going to the hospital today in style.!

@Roberta,
This is wonderful, Roberta. I'm so glad the B's sent the clothes and that so many of them fit. Plus that that are such nice clothes is terrific.

@Roberta,
I'm glad to hear that the coat fits and that you've found some things to keep you warm around the house.

I'm just thrilled to be able to read on a public forum about the generosity of certain named people in coming to the aid of certain other publicly named people. Private dignity obviously has no place on public forums.

@Roberta,
That's terrific news. Sounds like you'll be warm, comfy and gorgeouser than ever.

I'm going to a swap meet tomorrow in search of new clothes - nothing like something new (to us)

Back from Bellevue. Wore all new stuff. It felt good. And the coat was warm.

Happy hunting, bethie.

Partway to getting my head screwed on straight, well, as straight as it's gonna get. The art therapy continues to enlighten and amaze me. I've been feeling gray and fuzzy. ( kind of depression, I guess) The therapist asked me to draw the feeling. Didn't think I could do it. I did it. Once it became visible, I could deal with it. Is the feeling gone? No, but it's been transformed. Amazing stuff.

I do some work for a company in India. Fact is, the company I usually work for is in NY. They farm out some work to the company in India. It costs them less, I guess, to farm out the book. So I get hired by the Indian company and am paid less for the same steenkin' work I would do if the company in NY hired me. I can live with this. Some money is better than no money. (Harumph!) But how long does it take the Indian company to pay me? I submitted my last bill October 8. Still waiting. I've been told twice that the check will be mailed on Monday. Ich hubse in drerd from this. Plus by the time I get paid, inflation kicks in. So I end up with even less than the original less. Mumzas.

The check mentioned above arrived today. How this happened is a mystery. Is there mail today? Doesn't matter. It arrived only slightly more than three months after I submitted the invoice. Not enough for rent, but I'll be able to pay some of the utilities with it.

@dlowan,
No big one. If I had a big one, I wouldn't be in such financial ruin. The problem with freelancing is that the paychecks are smallish. Put together enough of them, and it's a living. Well, it used to be. I'm owed another check by the company from India. I'm guessing Easter.
