So busy kvetching yesterday that I forgot to mention that according to the hospital scale, I lost 12 pounds. Not so much on my scale, but theirs is official!

Today, the pharmacy screwed something up, and I had to go over there. (Not gonna kvetch about the screw-up. Already made plenty of noise about that--there.) It's four short blocks roundtrip. Did it. Not all in one go, but I did it. The last time I went there in person, I had to take a cab back. The driver thought I was kidding.

@Roberta,
The powers that be just don't get it.

You are squawking for the many, then and now.

Back from Bellevue--again. Three times this week. Saw two therapists. Had very meaningful discussions with both. Drew a special picture in art therapy. Don't have it with me.

Got a blood test ( for a doctor visit I'm having next week) and left.

Took a cab to the bank. Walked from the bank to the bakery (2 blocks), from the bakery to the drug store (a different drug store from the one I went to yesterday) (4 blocks, rested on a bench), and from the drug store to the supermarket (1 block). Had to get stuff to put on the bread I bought. Hey, ya can't live by bread alone.

Walked the 1/8 to 1/10 block home. Don't feel overwhelmingly exhausted. Maybe the physical therapist doc was right (stranger things have been known to happen). I just need to walk more.

@littlek,
You got that right, littlek. Not poifect, but a whole lot better.

One more thing. My pants are falling down. I wore them two weeks ago. They fit just fine. Now--too big. Very Happy

Overdid it.

Tried to take a nap last night. Set my alarm clock for ninety minutes. I slept through the alarm and woke up eleven hours later. Now my legs are barely functioning.

Gotta do what the doctor said. Small increments. Two blocks to two and a half blocks. Not zero to six in one swell foop. But I felt triumphant yesterday. Liked that.

Gotta catch up on my meds (didn't take my before bed scrips) and my work.

Thanks for the encouragement, you guys.

Remembering that I used to be a major walker. Sigh.

@Roberta,
11 hours sleep, Boida - your body needed that as a catchup.

Yep, little steps at a time and you'll get there

(((((((((Boida))))))))

Back from Bellevue. Saw the internist today. No therapists.

I filled him in on what happened since the last time I saw him (asthma and saw the physical therapist). He checked me over. Everything seems OK. Even my chest noises were minimal.

Then I hit him with my four concerns:

1. Need a flu shot. (Easy)
2. My vision is going. I can't tell whether I need new glasses or whether it's a cataract. He asked me about glaucoma. I told him that my father had it. Have an appointment with an ophthamologist (February).
3. My blood pressure is higher than it used to be but still within normal range. I'm concerned because I gained weight. He told me to monitor it a few times a week and keep records. He gave me numbers to be concerned about.
4. I occasionally get a very terrible pain in my gut. He asked me many questions and poked around.

He thinks the problem is the same as my walking problem--muscular. I gotta move around more. Now that I'm breathing a little better, that will be possible.

I called the hospital to change an appointment with the endocrinologist. It's scheduled for my birthday. I don't wanna schlep to Bellevue on my birthday. Result of call: either my birthday or February. I'll be there on my birthday. Phooey and some dirty words.

All in all not a bad day. It's good to walk outta that dump without something to stew about.

@Roberta,
Hi Roberta,

Have you already undergone the surgery you talked about in the original post? This thread is way too long, and I can't figure out.

@spidergal,
Spidergal,

I had that surgery, throat cancer and radiation, and a brain tumor which was surgically removed.

I agree that this thread is too long. Too many ailments just kept it going.
