Oof, I meant that as how I know about the $2.00/or vicinity thereof.

@Roberta,
Robbie, you may enjoy this, or quiver...

I'm waking up to design issues at a hospital I by and large now love. Well, not quite love.

I've listened to the Dys. I've seen for myself.. not many places for people to rest traipsing up or over to various clinics. I've heard from you and been nonplussed by the lack of help you've had in navigating when you have been near fainting.

I'm odd (we all know that, but in this case have a background both in clinical medicine and design/urban planning) and have noticed a lot of problems, not so much for me, yet anyway, but for some portion of patients.

I talked with my md about about patient access via email and he took me seriously; I have no intention of taking up clinic time, and past that talk, his time. I'm not even antagonistic. But, I'm going to look more closely at current design, and see if I have any thoughts for future hospital planning. I do already, but I may find myself wrong.

@sozobe,
If you have no money, it is money, even two dollars. This is a mouse eye view that I get. She and I have similarities re dollars.

To me it means Roberta can get these prescribed drugs.

osso, I salute you with your planning design ideas. However, those would apply to new hospitals. What about the ones sick people have to schlep through now. I've often thought how nice it would be to have a tram or someone to push me in a wheelchair. Today, I almost didn't make it up the ramp to get out. I stopped a few times to breathe. I was passed right and left by DOCTORS. Not one paid attention. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Phooey.

Meds:

I take Advair. The last time I paid for this, it was $250 for a month's supply. I couldn't afford it and tried to get free samples.

Singulair. $170/month

On and on. I stopped taking one med. Just couldn't afford it.

Now I can afford all my meds. Even impoverished moi can afford two bucks a pop.

@Roberta,
Gofers for everyone with a mobility problem!!

And what's wrong with airtubes, so only one pharmacy needs to be gone to.

The state of the airtubes at the hospital I work in is a constant source of info giving on the PA system.

@Roberta,
Just saying hello, Roberta, after reading the last few posts here.

It's excellent you can now afford all the medication you need.

How's the editing going?

Just back from Bellevue (maybe I should make that my signature line).

Saw the neurologist. He thinks things are going well. I can stop taking the steenkin' antiseizure med. Between not taking that and taking the new thyroid med, maybe I'll wake up--for real as opposed to just having my eyes open.

The proofreading job is done. Not big in size, but a rush. I think I did ok.

Saw my therapist. She was away on vacation since before Christmas. Major kvetching from me. Felt good to talk.

Did not do the combover today. I tried a headband. Easier to deal with than a combover, but didn't like the feeling of something on my head. However, I think it's the way to go.

No pharmacy today. A mecchiah.

Yeh, I'm going to address that... have to line my ducks up, though.
first, to walk around, sit around (where?), with note pad on a day I don't have an appointment. No one pays attention to a greyhair staring into space, eh? I might be killing time writing poetry.

(The doc was with me at least that outpatient should be separate and access much better for the patients).

@ossobuco,
Tangenting while this is on my mind -
I'm also interested re hospital visitors or patient-accompaniers: they aren't always tip top well either, while not being troubled to the point of having their own wheel chair, should they have the strength to wheel it. Some part of the non hospital patient population has heart trouble, asthma, copd, and so on.

On benches in general, I've raved about this earlier - a lot of urban benches were cut out when the homeless population blossomed at the time of deinstitutionalization without supportive community facilities, but I didn't mention the matter of vandalism. I've never understood vandalism. Well, I do, a kind of rage in action - but park design has been problematic for years because of it, even in "nicer" parts of cities.

On doctors passing a struggling patient - I have no patience.

Thrilled with your getting to stop the anti seizure meds. And the successful work project.

Great news! I know people on anti-seizure meds - the drugs make them really tired.

I bet you'll be wide awake in no time!

osso, What about indoor benches for those lo-o-o-o-o-ong corridors. What about a moving sidewalk to get me up the damned ramp. It's not my legs so much as my breathing.

I haven't noticed a difference yet without the antiseizure med. Of course, I might notice a difference once I get some sleep. Two days in a row going to the hospital meant two days in a row getting up early. Feh. Also, I finished the work project at five in the morning. Not much sleep.

I start taking the thyroid stuff next week. I left the scrip at the pharmacy yesterday. Couldn't bear the additional wait time to get something in and out in the same day.

Speaking of next week, it's a biggie. I'll find out whether my throat cancer is back. And the video-related VIP breakfast is next week. Not sure I'm gonna go. One depends on the other. Also, I have to consider transportation costs for nonessentials.

Sheila sends her regards.

Take care you guys. Bon nuit.

@Roberta,
What day do you find out about the throat Boida?

Want to be thinking of you.

I so hope you make it to the video launch.

Is there a place to make complaints/suggestions to the hospital?

It would seem to me that benches, or just chairs, would be a super easy thing to put in corridors.

The moving walkway...well, that's expensive.

But would grab rails help on the ramp?
