@ehBeth,
Yup, scarves. I have many. They're around here somewhere. The problem is that when I put them on my head, I look like an Eastern European immigrant from the early 1900s wearing what my grandmother referred to as a babushka. I need to figure out how to debabushkafy the look.

Hats will be easier.

@Roberta,
Well, you don't have to tie them like scarves, like under the chin. Try wearing them like boonie rags, or doo rags, as they're now called. In my drab little wardrobe, this is the only place I'm willing to get colorful, the more the better, and the longer the tail, the better.

So, I look like a turtle wearing a feather war bonnet. So what?

@roger,
or wear them scarves like Jesse James.

(prolly should avoid the bank, though...)

I'll try to keep that in mind.

Here's a scarf tying guide.
(Still following along and sending positive thoughts)

uh, I just read that instead of tying a knot you could use a scrunchie or rubber band or something, pulling enough material through to cover it. I found it on this website http://www.bcforum.org/scarves.html but I think some of their looks are a bit over the top...

@caribou,
So now you have instructions on scarf tying Roberta. I expect you'll be spending quite a few moments trying out the different styles in front of your mirror. Smile
But hats: You can have a lot of fun with hats! Very Happy I suggest a few visits to a few different opportunity shops (Thrift shops, I think you call them). It's an inexpensive way to do a bit of experimenting .... & not too much angst if you decide you don't exactly like what you've purchased, after all.
I'm thinking: Hats for Roberta. NYC in Autumn (your fall). Hmmmm ... what sorts of hats for that season?

Catching up.... I'm happy that you have a voracious appetite, Roberta! You weren't saying that was a worrisome thing in that post a page or two back, were you?

caribou, thanks for the links. Couldn't figure out much, but I might give one or two styles a try.

littlek, A good appetite is not a bad thing at all.

deb and olga, Thanks for the kind words.

BTW, I hate wearing stuff on my head. Hate it. It has to be mighty nippy to get me to put a hat on. I wear earmuffs usually. I'll have to get over it. Feh.

Speaking of style (if I wasn't, pretend I was), I'm gearing up for three lengths of hair. Normal length (past my shoulders), the row of hair at the back of my head that fell out after the radiation and is now about two inches long, and the new and upcoming short (bald) spot at the front right. I've always been a trend-setter. (Throwing in another feh.)

Fact is, hair is the least of my problems, but one that will be more obvious than others--and one I can do something about. A little control is not a bad thing.

It has occurred to me that I won't be able to wear scarves. I won't be able to tie them tightly enough for them to stay on.

Scratch the scarves. It's hats.

@Roberta,
Hats for cats!

My friend's mum bought a fabulous, huge, red one.

She looked stunning.

I don't mean it has to be red, just that you can look a million dollars.

@Roberta,
Though others seem to have no trouble keeping them on?

I think it might be the fabric.

@Roberta,
I'm gonna have to start researching hats, Roberta! Let's see what we can come up with.

I think (like Deb) that scarves might not be out of the question. It'd be good if you could have the choice of both!

@Roberta,
Is this more about the scarf or about your hands? When I read this I thought you meant you'd have a hard time making a good knot, now I'm not sure.

Not my hands, soz. My head will be sore and stitched and screwed and stapled.

I saw an internist today. It was either today or January. It's a busy city hospital. What can I tell ya?

I had some concerns. Another doctor saw a mole on my abdomen and said someone should take a look at that. So someone took a look at it. (My father had skin cancer. I don't mess with moles.) One doc looked and said it appeared to be benign. Her boss looked and said the same thing. But I have an appointment with a skin doctor after my surgery.

I also have a circulation problem in my legs (what you get when you sit like an Indian for as long as I've been sitting). Not an emergency. This also will be taken care of after the surgery. The doc gave me signs to look for. It that stuff happens, then it's an emergency.

I was supposed to have a bunch of tests for that adrenal adenoma thing. I decided to postpone that stuff until after the surgery.

I've had some gigantic financial issues that have taken a lot of my time. I'm also trying to get as much work done as possible before I can't work again.

Tired, but moving forward.

Oh, btw. Over a month ago I had a battery of cognitive neurological tests. Tres interesting and challenging. Despite my complaining of certain symptoms (which might be the tumor), nothing unusual showed up. Except for one thing. The tester guy said I'm very very smart. I said not anymore. He said yes I am. We argued this for a while. I guess everything is relative. I don't feel as smart as I used to be. As I said somewhere before, IQ points are dropping out of my head like dandruff flakes off a dry scalp.

So much for tests. Not stoopid yet, but I'm on my way.
