Aggghhhh!

I'd be absolutely hysterical, too, Roberta.

At times like this, I wish I had a wee bit of extra cash up my sleeve! Sad

Thomas had to be in Manhattan three blocks from my home. We met for food--he had lunch. Breakfast for me. I like this kid. Smart. Kind. Interesting. And eating vegetarian. I was not so inclined.

Gotta admit that for a person who can't talk, we did okay conversationwise. Even when handicapped, I've got a big mouth. Just less audible than usual.

@ossobuco,
Roberta, I just sent you a PM. I don't know if I did it right, though. Let me know if you don't get it.

osso, We ate at a neighborhood coffee shop/diner. Don't worry about my spilling the beans to Thomas that you like him. Even if I told him, he probably wouldn't hear me.

Getting Roberta talking is about as hard as getting an ocean wet. You just call her "sweet", or suggest she might be from Brooklyn. Then you sit back and listen to her protest. From there, the conversation will branch out into a wide array of other topics. Examples include the complicated science of setting a Jewish table with the appropriate tableware, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants, and the fact that most politicians are horny egomaniacs. (Roberta taught me a word for it, but I have since forgotten it.)

Thanks for one of the shortest two hours I've ever spent!

Note to Ossobuco: We went to an Irish diner on East 89th and either Second or Third. The menu was quite international though.

@Thomas,
I didn't get that far on my trip (famous to myself) but did flutter around some blocks on the east side, completely ignorant but just liking. I was near the neighborhoods of Robbie and Paola and Blatham (later) and Lola and Kicky, ephemerally.
Me, in my childhood for a year -- I lived at age 8 at 324o Henry Hudson Parkway. Long gone, there is some giant boring building in that place now.

But, hey. I crave to meet Robbie now, we need to follow up.

Leches, kiddo. Politician of the male variety are leches. Derived from lecherous. Look it up.

Two hours. If we hadn'ta got there at two and left at four, I would have thought it was a few minutes. Time flew. Enjoyed myself enormously, you vegetarian, you.

Have fun on Sunday.

Just got a call from the place I work for. The levy was lifted. I should receive my check today, tomorrow, who knows.

I want to thank those of you who made it possible for me to get through the last few days.

The support that I've gotten from the people on this site has had a profound effect on me. I don't know whether I could have gotten through this latest bout with cancer without you guys. Not gonna get all weepy, but I'm grateful to each and every one of you.

When the check arrives, I'll be able to pay my February rent. Late is better than not at all.

deb, It's not a big check. I'm paying only part of Feb. rent with it. (The rest was already paid by an organization.) Can't do March. Can't get some prescriptions filled. But I'll be able to buy food and get around.

Swimpy, What's a levy? A creditor "attaches" your bank account, wages, etc. Garnishes them. Takes them. Since this levy was put on without my receiving even a letter and was removed without my doing anything, I think it was a mistake. Be glad you don't know.

Big sigh.

@Tai Chi,
Yep, another whew.

So glad it was lifted and glad too that it was a mistake -- it would have been best of all if the levy had never happened, but simply lifting it seems better than actual garnishing et al for an actual debt.
