@Roberta,
What a bugger about the postponed appointment, Roberta! I won't ask about the infuriating details (because it sounds like you'd rather not talk about them ).... However, if I'm wrong about this & a good vent would do you much good, then please, vent away! Smile

Excellent news about you enjoying your food again! That was quite a long time not to be able to taste anything!

Not shy about venting, msolga. You're right. I'd rather not go into it.

You've misunderstood about the tasting and the pot roast. Taste has been coming back slowly and steadily. Beef is now added to the list. It hasn't been all this time without any taste at all.

As I look out the window and see the snow, I'm thinking about youse guys in Oz in the middle of summer. I've been watching some of the tennis. Lots of schvitzing going on.

@Roberta,
"schvitzing" .............. OH...... JUST LOVE THAT WORD!

schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing
schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing
schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing schvitzing

so........ then went and looked it up....

gosh, wish I'd known that word yesterday - coulda told Dutchy he was schvitzing too. Oz nearly reached it's record in Adelaide... over 45+ deg yesterday. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan - that's way too hot.

k.... back to being a little quieter.

Had a major kvetch (so love that word too) about / at work today - I got payroll probs and a fight with the county council HR dept ... did a big girl's bubble and cried in total anger and frustration... came home and slept some.

Darn systems - aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Hey ho! So, when we do tea MizBoida - we'll have to get that Bethie down from the far North too and any one else who's up for a yarn - and we'll yabber long. I'm quite excitable (who knew), use my hands to talk too so I'll sit a little aways so I don't bop you or anything.

Now, we just got to get these surgeries out the way - and start living a little easier a? I'm plotting and planning already for after my surgery - hoping to meet up with the Dag girl across the Channel (JoeN - be prepared!!!!!) ..... and if I can work the pennies somehow - little fella and I will be tripping out to the USA again for the summer.

Got my pre-op tomorrow (forgot it yesterday - doh) - all those luverly tests - so blooming undignifed - p here, swab there ... and that's just for an MSRA test - bloods and the like. Two weeks time - mine'll be out of the way and recover in progress. Ooof.

OK - rambling a bit now... best go. Going to make a cuppa!!!!!!

Izzie, If you like schvitzing and kvetching, I encourage you to take a gander at this thread. It's guaranteed to make you laugh--at least once. And it's one of msolga's favorites.

Izzie, Glad you had a good laugh. (I knew you would.) But please try to avoid scaring the domestic beasties.

@Izzie,
Izzie, that is my all-time favourite A2K thread! I swear I've almost wet my pants a few times there! Laughing

I keep urging the Hebonic -otarians to revive the thread, but sadly, they've paid little attention to my pleas.

Ah. I understand (about preferring not to vent), Roberta. But I hope you're now feeling less frustrated with being mucked around like that.

Ah. Gotcha now. Beef is now added to your list of tasty food! I wonder which will be next?

@Roberta,
HA! oh... do laugh out terribly loud (poor kitties)... if the little white men saw me in front of my laptop, yabbering away as I do when I'm on it, they would put me in the little white van - no doubt. Little fella watches me when I am typing and I make all the faces depending on who I'm talking to and what I'm trying to express...and say stuff out loud when I am on here...

oh dear... hard being animated when it's black and white type

My appointment with the neurosurgeon is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:30.

I'm prepared. I updated my medication list. I have a typed list of questions.

I called to get a price on a car service. Getting a cab at the height of rush hour in my neighborhood is almost impossible. The cost is almost the same if you figure in the cost of the cab in traffic. I arranged for the car.

Why is a poor person talking about cabs and car services? Because this poor person can't walk from the bus stop to the hospital.

I'm back and forth on this. I'm eager to get things firm and settled, eager to get this done. That's the back part. The forth part is I'm a noivous wreck. I keep picturing them drilling a hole in my skull. Looking at my brain. ...........................................Thud.

@Roberta,
Good for you on the preparation, especially the typed list of questions. I can go into a doctor's appointment with a completely clear head and a firm grasp on what I want to say, but if I don't write it down I'm invariably bonking myself on the forehead on the way out. ("Argh, I never asked about...") Doctors, even good ones, have a way of controlling the conversation.

I've said this before I think but I know two people who had brain surgery (maybe it was just one when I mentioned it last) -- my sister-in-law, who had surgery 10 years ago and is FINE, and my next-door-neighbor, who had surgery this fall and is FINE. Not a walk in the park for either of them and of course it's a pretty small sample, but it means that 100% of the people I know personally who have had brain surgery came out of it just fine. In case that's any consolation. (Next-door neighbor was particularly fine, she was up and about and perky in an alarmingly short time.)

A hug from me too Roberta.

(And try to have some sympathy for those poor doctors who get to see your brain -- imagine how intimidated they're going to be!)

@Roberta,
Hey Boida....

You should be so organised a? Good for you gal.

I know it's all different and all that.... but I've talked about my niece on another thread... and to LilK before... she's 13 and has an inoperable brain tumour on her brain stem (fortunately, it's not growing at this time) - she had 4 lots of brain surgery in 2007 for problems it was causing her covering a ventricle - and the day after each of the surgeries, was up and walking around - truly, truly amazing. Not the same thingy as yours... I understand that. But... you know... just thought I would let you know that.

Have you got that question on the list? How long after the surgery will it affect you, side effects etc.... how long in hospital, up and walking around? Will you need someone with you at home after?

It must be so scary - I can't imagine what you're feeling - so... just know we're all here as best we can be for you.

Hugs gal. x

I appreciate all the words of encouragement, but nothing is going to help. I'm not so much afraid of the outcome as I am of the act itself-- going in past my skull into my brain. Thud again.

Tai, LOL big time. Thanks. I needed that.

Yes, Izzie, all those questions, and more, are on the list.

@Roberta,
So, we'll just be here with tea and cookies when you get back, Roberta, and hoping that you'll report that it wasn't anywhere near as traumatic as the anticipation and that thud was the sound of a soft landing. Meanwhile, as Noddy would say, "hold your dominion" as best as you can. No use trying to tell you not to feel what you feel. (Or pretending that any of us would feel any differently for that matter.)

Sending a New Mexico hug and a BIG pinata to whack away at. (It's filled will all good things.)

@edgarblythe,
I'm another person with a friend who's been through brain surgery and was fine remarkably soon. But... I'm doubting that would still my disquiet. Thus, more hugs.
