I seem to be fluctuating between focusing on either elem school or grown-up school. Seems I put one off for the other when I can. Now I have to prepare my entire portfolio for next thursday and rewrite my inquiry summary by then too. The portfolio entails 4-5 sections - an intro, 3 areas of achievement and a misc section. There will ultimately be 75-100 pages in it. Msot of the work has been written already, but much of it needs to be edited. And I have to write reflections for each piece. I'd take a day off next week to put more time toward it, but I seem to somehow be short in hours for my full-time teaching requirement by about 40 hours.
My take over week is effectively over, maybe a little more correcting tomorrow night.
And, I put in my resume for the position opening in January for a 3rd grade maternity leave. Turns out I also need my transcripts (done) and three letters of recommendation - by Wednesday when I have my interview. I might have one collected (from the teacher I work with) by then. My seminar advisor is out of town until Tuesday night, but offered to do a phone interview on Wednesday (very nice). I can't think of anyone else to ask. I'd ask my principal, but he's who I am interviewing with!
I feel like I can't do it all by next Thursday. And I think it's the interview that has to go. Or at least the pieces that go into the interview. And there's one thing I really need now - money.
The seminar I just need to pass. But, I have no idea how my standing is now. It's good, but we've never had a grade. We don't have any idea of what each piece is worth.
And I am really really tired.
littlek, this all sounds like pretty short notice and with people you already know (so you don't have to worry as much about wasting a first impression) -- why not just go for the interview with what you have? I know I hired teachers who didn't have every little t crossed and i dotted -- especially in situations where time was limited -- but who clearly had the ability to do the job.
Maybe you can talk to the principal beforehand and explain that you probably won't have all of the materials necessary in time but you're very interested in the job, and is it worth it to go ahead with the interview anyway or should you wait for the next opening?

Perhaps your Monitor Teacher could edit your portfolio?
I agree with you that your students are getting a great deal of editing--which might be very valuable on a one-to-one basis, but in written form....?
Traditionally, December is a month of miracles. You can pull one off. Your housemate does that sort of thing all all the time.
Yeah. My 4th grade teacher suggested I do what I can and make the interview. I can tell the Principal I'll get his papers afterward. I might also be able to reuse the original letter of recommendation from the previous principal I worked for. Which should theoretically be in a file somewhere in the school....... So. One from the 4th grade teacher. One from the folder and a phone interview from my seminar teacher. Could work. I feel less defeated. Maybe because it's Friday evening.
Weekends are for recouping.

At some point you can have a 20 minute bubble bath--even if you have to skip the bubbles.
Dasha is having a party tonight. I will be forced to have fun (grin). But now I am in stress-mode and neither of my printers are working!
Littlek--
You have my sympathy. I had printer problems yesterday and the knight in shining armor didn't materialize until nearly 8 p.m.
Maybe someone at the party can fix the printers...
or..
Anyway, have fun..
Perhaps I was being overly dramatic. It is true that one printer is not working and I can't fix it. The other printer needed an ink cartridge which I got today and have been happily printing all afternoon.
The bones of the portfolio are there and much of the guts are as well. I need to reflect a lot still though. Like 12 pages worth.
I might be able to. It'll be tough. I'm sleep-deprived and not at all prepared for my job interview tomorrow.
BUT!!!!
I was awarded a certificate for going above and beyond for one student (TheOne). Awarded by the principal who I'll be interviewing with.
It became a very important piece of my portfolio. It made one whole section work.
Good for you Lil'K. Karma is already kickin' it for ya...

Flying karma eastward...
snorts, I'm not a karma person. Okay, flying good thoughts.
Good luck tomorrow, K. You'll do fine. I just know it.
I am a karma person - and littlek, your karma is in very good shape. I can't wait to hear how well the interview goes!
