@maxdancona,
Just FYI, Max. You weren't behind him; you were right. Bernie was the only person on a major ticket who actually gave a damn about the trajectory of our country, and who also had workable, fair methods to right the most egregious, prevailing wrongs.

The wiki leaks prove-leaving no doubt- that as we suspected, Bernie was cheated out of a fair election by the DNC, certain media outlets, and the Clinton campaign. There's no question any longer.

You were right. He was wrong.

One of the brightest media scholars/critics around is Jay Rosen. This piece at his PressThink blog is a must read (if you care about such things). http://pressthink.org/

Quote:
"...Can those three types — political journalists, operatives, surrogates — bring enough perspective to make sense of the Trump phenomenon?

My answer: No. Not even close.

...Dominance politics’ and the imperative of humiliation. “A series of symbols and actions that mark the dominating from the dominated.” Here I am quoting Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo, who has pursued this interpretation for months. (Brilliantly, I should add.) There should be someone on the pundit’s roundtable who is paying close attention to the manner in which Trump tries to establish his dominance over all comers and humiliate anyone who would try to contest his superiority. Hearing that person opine on the latest speech, or press conference maneuver would be useful and illuminating."

DNC Chair Won't Speak At Dem Convention Following Wikileaks Fallout

Source: CNN

(CNN)The head of the Democratic National Committee will not speak at the party's convention next week, a decision reached by party officials Saturday after emails surfaced that raised questions about the committee's impartiality during the Democratic primary.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, whose stewardship of the DNC has been under fire through most of the presidential primary process, will not have a major speaking role in an effort "to keep the peace" in the party, a Democrat familiar with the decision said. The revelation comes following the release of nearly 20,000 emails

One email appears to show DNC staffers asking how they can reference Bernie Sanders' faith to weaken him in the eyes of Southern voters.

Another seems to depict an attorney advising the committee on how to defend Hillary Clinton against an accusation by the Sanders campaign of not living up to a joint fundraising agreement.

Wasserman Schultz is expected to gavel the convention in and out, but not speak in the wake of the controversy surrounding the leaked emails, a top Democrat said.

"She's been quarantined," another top Democrat said, following a meeting Saturday night.

DNC rules meeting agrees to a compromise on superdelegates

DNC rules meeting agrees to a compromise on superdelegates

By CATHERINE LUCEY

Jul. 24, 2016 12:48 AM EDT

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The role of superdelegates could be significantly reduced in future Democratic presidential primaries under a compromise deal struck at the Democratic National Convention rules committee Saturday.

Efforts by Bernie Sanders supporters to pass amendments eliminating or limiting the power of superdelegates failed to win approval at the committee meeting in Philadelphia. But campaigns for Sanders and Hillary Clinton worked out an agreement to create a "unity commission" to revise the nominating process, including changing superdelegate rules, which won near-unanimous support.

The 21-member commission will study a number of issues, including how to improve access to caucuses and how to broaden the party's appeal. For superdelegates, the commission's recommendation is that Congress members, governors and other elected officials should remain as unpledged delegates, but that other delegates would be bound proportionally to the primary results of their state.

Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver endorsed the plan, saying it would "result in the reduction of superdelegates as we know them by two-thirds." The Clinton campaign also expressed support for the commission.

DWS not speaking isn't enough by a long shot.

All this push to get rid of superdelegates and install open conventions. The Republicans got Trump because of open conventions and lack of superdelegates. All of Trump's supporters came pouring out of their forest militia hideouts and their local Klaverns to vote for Trump.

Maybe it's time to consider that a good proportion of the time, the party's leaders know what they're doing.

@Blickers,
If Sanders had won the nomination they would have no complaints about fairness or process.

@Blickers,
It's kind of funny, since Sanders' campaign was pushing superdelegates to vote for him toward the end of the primary. That must not have worked out for them.

(I still see no use for supers but it's the Democrats' game to play with)

What kind of first gentleman would Bill Clinton be?

Wish we could ask how he is wants to be addressed, former President Clinton or First Gentlemen?

Former Presidents are addressed as Mr. President. Same things as former cabinet secretaries are Mr or Madam Secretary.

Good think America is a famous country, or people in foreign lands might get confused when they are in the same room and both are being called President.

@Blickers,
Your right, they will, not too much though as one would be called Madam (?) and one would be called Mr. Now if we ever get two of the same gender and one of them was a former president...

So you think Bill Clinton will still be called President Bill Clinton rather than First Gentlemen Bill Clinton?
