The return of Jesus would be the end of Christianity.

@Quehoniaomath,
We all believe Que, to whatever degree, perhaps with the exception of Frank. With regards to me not understanding what you write, I believe in this instance you are probably correct in your assumption.

U r in Mensa?
Did u attend our Annual Gathering in Boston ?
I founded NY Mensa's Opulent Mensan SIG about 3O years ago;
predominantly a fine dining group, including traveling.
We 've attended a lot of Regional Gatherings.
Next in mind is HalloweeM. That 's a good one.

R u going ??

I am totally willing to consider any quote where Jesus said, "live by the sword die by the sword." (I am willing to make the assumption that we are talking about what the Bible tells us Jesus said.)

He said something similar to that...in a context that seems out of phase with the words that MWal wrote.

All MWal had to do was to actually quote...which others have done.

I go with the actual quotes...and the citation that give the comment context.

If you are asking me to cite the passage where Jesus DID NOT say those words, obviously I cannot help you.

@Quehoniaomath,
First of all Josephus was a Jew, Israelite, Hebrew, whatever you want to call him, and therefore if he did mention Jesus, as I believe he did, he would not have called him Christ, but Messiah as that is what the Jews were waiting for; and no one said that Josephus actually thought Jesus was the Messiah. Being Jewish, I doubt that he did. He mentioned Jesus as one that was claimed to be the Messiah by Jesus' followers, later called Christians.

All the men you mentioned came after this and being that Josephus was not Christian and only mentioned Jesus, did not write lengthy about Jesus, I doubt there was really any reason for them to have mentioned Josephus and the bit that he had written. Especially, being that has you said he is said to have mentioned James the brother of the one called Messiah.

@Quehoniaomath,
Hardly matters being that if you look hard enough one can find someone that will dismiss anything..............including what you may believe.

I passed the test over 40 years ago but never went further.
That was the same time I began to study the Bible.

For the most part, Mensa consists of its SIGs (extant, or to be created by u, if u join)
and its nationwide Annual Gathering + its local Regional Gatherings thru out @ year.
Thay r fun. U make friends. U eat well. U listen to lectures.

Additionally, there r local SIG meetings.

@Cyracuz,
When Christ came he did as a child & as the Lamb of God. When he returns, he will come as The Lion, King of kings, & no harm will come to him nor to any of his elect! Satan will be cast into the pit & he will reign for 1000 years with the elect in Jerusalem!

I read (Dawkins I think) that if Jesus were to come back now he would very likely be killed. This time people would be wearing a necklace with an electric chair on it.

@steven bill,
There ain't no Jesus - or there were many. But there is no god-jesus. That's only the creation of some men about 2k years ago. All the temples and churches built in the name of the god is only good to make some people feel secure in some omnipotent thing out there in space. The short period of our lives on this planet is all she wrote; no more, no less. Religion is an accident of birth - nothing else. From Wiki: "A critique of Geertz's model by Talal Asad categorized religion as "an anthropological category."[2] Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the universe. They tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws, or a preferred lifestyle from their ideas about the cosmos and human nature. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world.[3]". Take your pick, and rest in peace.
