@Germlat,
Malinowski found that funeral rituals served the purpose of allaying any suspicions that the mourners were not jumping for joy at the prospect of disposing of the assets of the deceased. Those with no assets were chucked into a shallow and hastily dug hole. Often after being used in experimental forensics.

The performances recently in North Korea were similarly necessary to avoid giving any impression of hoping for any changes.

Weddings are more lighthearted. In the main. A true virgin's anticipation at the prospect of her father giving her away must be quite stimulating I should have thought. The loss of virginity before marriage, usually in surprisingly sordid circumstances, cannot but forgo such excitement forever.

@hingehead,
The king never lets his subjects ridicule him...it causes dissension. And after all, it really is about controlling the sheeple.

Nah mate, it was only oldtime church bosses who passed that law because they wrongly thought this verse means offenders should be arrested on earth instead of leaving them to God to deal with on judgement day-
"These men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed.." (2 Peter 2:12)

Every single action of God, everything in the Qur'an. Torah & Bible occurred inside this circle

@hingehead,
That's because that's where god's people lives. The Jews are more important than all of the rest of humanity; that's what god said, and promised them the land of Palestine. Never mind the Chinese, Indians and Muslims who make up 58% of the world population, and the Jews make up 2-thousanths of one percent. They are so important to this world.

@cicerone imposter,
There is a serious belief among nominal christians that Ancestral Jews still have standing with God and that Jews must inhabit Jerusalem in order for Christ to return.

Funny thing about that, though; it is not supported by the scriptures they claim to follow. Nevertheless, is was a driving force behind not only the Balfour Declaration, but also the, IMHO, mindless support of USA and Britain. Were there other considerations? No doubt. But it takes many ingredients to create the olla putridus.

This is inaccurate, to say the least.

Mecca and Medina are not inside that circle.

I thought the 3 wise men came from the Orient?
And the bloke who helped Jesus carry his cross came from Cyrene in north Africa didn't he?
And Paul went all round the eastern Med including Greece and Rome.
And Noah's Ark ended up in Turkey.
Anyway a few thousand years ago the mideast was a relatively civilised place.
By comparison in America the indians were scalping each other, and in south America they were ripping peoples hearts out; in Africa they were eating each other; in Australia they were chasing kangaroos and so on..

So I guess if the circle had been fractionally larger...the point being made would not be made???

Jeez!

What IS the point of the little circle anyway?
Jesus's influence spread far beyond that and encompasses the whole planet..Smile

@Frank Apisa,
So people can use all kinds of falsity to allow them to make a point?

Nope...I never said, nor suggested, that, Timur.

And I agree with you completely that the circle did not cover all the area it purported to cover.

But my point was...what if the circle were enlarged to actually cover the entire of the area of every single action of God, everything in the Qur'an. Torah & Bible...

...would the point being made be significantly lessened?

I think not. You may think otherwise.

The Bible often refers to the sun, moon and stars, so the circle definitely needs to be expanded a bit-
"See how lofty are the highest stars!" (Job 22:12)

@timur,
Ah, timur, mecaa is the birthplace of Muhammad, and medina his his final religious base. Neither are a site of any of god's actions in the Quran or the Torah or bible. Muhammad being a prophet and all who didn't think he was important as his god.

@hingehead,
You mean that the revelations of the Quran to Muhamamad is not an action of God (Allah)?

That's something new!

@timur,
However, as we all well know, revisionism is normal in religion and the interpretation of the bible/torah/koran. It'll be revised again with the next scientific findings.
