regrets, I've had a few
like this tattoo
which I'll just mention
I did, what then was cool, I lived to flaunt, cultures convention
I didn't plan, to be a force, a big exec, no not in my day,
A tool, I look a fool
I think now "oy
.vey"
Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew
I'd live to see, the day I'd rue
But through it all, I was a lout
I wish I'd took, a diff'rent route
To be unique, but get a job
Means no ink toooooooday.
if you are with someone who loves you and your tat looks saggy after so many years, so will your ass, your tits, belly and everything else and it won't matter because that person loves you and hoefully that love supercedes any shallow cosmetic issues.
Everyone else, mind your business and who cares what you think? That should be your attitude if you decide to get a tattoo.
As far as the workplace is concerned I understand that in some areas of employment tats might be out of step with decorum. For the short time I was in the corporate world, and even today when I sales call a prospective bride or possible corporate client, I will generally wear long sleeves until I know which way the wind blows.
bear...in case you hadn't noticed...i did mention that I was not giving my opinion on tattoos, my husband has tattoos...and I was discussing all this in regards to the workplace.
lighten up.
As far as cosmetic appearances...isn't that what a tattoo is all about? you know, since it changes your appearance, and is cosmetic?
when you get down to the job part of the discussion....you yourself say you wear long sleeves if you feel it's going to hurt your job performance.
that's why I was advocating, from the very start, to NOT have your tattoos on your forearm, so you can easily keep them covered, even with a short sleeve shirt.
The pictures I posted of tattoss are examples of ones that are created every day, and look like they'd be something regretable immediately.
chai, take a breath... I wasn't attacking you... just making a general statement.
people sure are touchy lately
very clever... I'm in awe of your cleverness....
My Grandmother had tattoos.
Did she swear like a sailor, too?
I'm always kind fo disappointed now, you see these people with tattoos, and they're like, these totally well-behaved polite normal people..
The days of big ships, roses, and "Mama", eh?
No swearing and her tats never sagged.
She was a rare grandma, DD. Or a young one.
I get a kick out of people who get tattooes just because they are trendy at the moment..like guys with tribal bands around their arms 10 years ago, and now with girls getting tramp stamps across their lower backs.
So I just got "666" across my forehead. Figured that won't catch on for at least another 5 years or so.
Tramp stamps! First time I've heard that.
I had a near total body tattooed neighbor, far as I knew... I liked him, and liked his wife and his dog. He was an art director, plenty smart. Er, we disagreed politically. Helped each other out, from time to time.
Personally, I don't get them. I'm so old that I don't get little roses on wherever - the tattoos I grew up noticing were on WWII and Korean War vets, yeah, with the rolled up white tee shirts. I didn't get the very heavy woman crossing the street with total body, seemingly, tattooage, in my last home town. Or maybe I do, and see that as negative for her.
I don't get piercing either. Took me forever to get my ears pierced for one pair of earrings, and then they promptly got keloids up the wazoo, for which I had to have cortisone shots. Oh, nice.
I'm fairly live and let live, and my areas of work have never been corporate. Many years of my finest work efforts involved wearing jeans (tee, et al) and a lab coat, or jeans or good slacks, occasionally skirt, tee, and a really good jacket, interesting jewelry. Later, when my business partner and I had a design firm and gallery, we got a bit more startling, playful with multiple antique pins, whatever, but... pinned on our clothes. Those weren't on in-the-field days though, that often being a mud slog.
I'm not sure I care what other people think, so much as I care what I think, which is, generally, that's your choice.
What corporations think is beyond my ken.
What small companies with a public interface choose, well, I can see their reasons one way or another, especially with gang stuff, or some of the more extreme tattoos.

She was smart enough to tattoo on her eyeliner....
I don't mind tattoos. Some people I love have a few. But, on my job, strictly none are allowed to show. Of course, we did have one assistant manager, whose shirt would ride up in the back, just enough to show about half of one.
