Perfect Recipe for Revolution

Nobody wants a revolution, but it is clear that one is coming.
The government has discredited and delegitimized itself by lying to the people about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Peoples' eyes are opened and they are taking a closer look at everything the US Government has ever told them with a new and healthy skepticism.

Government was formed, long ago, because the strongest man alive can be killed with a rock to the head while he's sleeping.

Guns won't help then

Ask the dead in Waco who has the biggest guns, and who will win.

Since the dead in Waco were overwhelmingly killed by the fire which David Koresh was very likely responsible for, that claim about guns is pretty well meaningless.

Maybe, in either case the gov't proved that military power is only a call away even against it's own citizens. No? What militia would stand a chance?

I certainly agree with the comment about militia--and in American history, militia have performed so consistently poorly, that the few examples of militia performing well are the exceptions which prove the rule.

However, the splinter group of the Branch Davidians at Waco (and they were disowned by all the other Branch Davidians) and their leader, David Koresh, were already prepared to die, and to die by self-immolation. It is either disingenuous or naive to describe Koresh and his loony bunch as "militia." It is either disingenuous or naive to suggest that the government killed them with intent.

Are we sure this is the congressional approval rating or might it be Ted Kennedy's blood alcohol content?

Quote:
June 21, 2007 - In 19 months, George W. Bush will leave the White House for the last time. The latest NEWSWEEK Poll suggests that he faces a steep climb if he hopes to coax the country back to his side before he goes. In the new poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday nights, President Bush's approval rating has reached a record low. Only 26 percent of Americans, just over one in four, approve of the job the 43rd president is doing; while, a record 65 percent disapprove, including nearly a third of Republicans.

We can always count on you for the most partisan statements lacking evidence to back them up, Ash. Love the reliability.

Ash is one of the most respected and thoughtful posters on A2K. For you to trash him is just another example of how far the left has sunk.

By the right-wingers here, yes, he is.

I'm really not interested in your opinion on anything, Cj, other then for purely comedic value.

Say what you will, comparing Bush's poll numbers to Congress's poll numbers and suggesting that the lack of support for the former doesn't necessarily translate to an endorsement of the latter... that's not an unreasonable assertion, Cyc.

Sure, but the opposite:

IS an unreasonable assertion.

There isn't any evidence which shows support for Bush or his policies, just anger at Congress. And as my first post in this thread states, who the hell is surprised at that?

I'd like to point out that Bush's approval ratings are now lower than Jimmy Carter's lowest point. That oughta sober some of you Republicans up a little. In fact, he's only 3 points higher then Nixon. To say that the country has not repudiated his policies is idiocy. Only the most radical right-wingers still approve of the job he is doing.
