I posted a question not that long ago about deerflies and I hate those buggers to death. We have them in my area due to all the woods and farms and they can drive you insane. We also have horseflies around, but they don't seem to bother us. Those darn deerflies are relentless and they hurt just as bad as horseflies do. I noticed that deet doesn't even help when it comes to those evil flies. I did do some research on them and how to deal with them and I posted the links on my thread, so I'll be back in a sec with some links.
Here is a link that Butrflynet gave me. Most of these products are made for horses, but they are made of all natural products and I even emailed one of the companies who said that lots of people use it for themselves and it's perfectly safe.

Here's a link with some solutions. You'll probably laugh, but I've tried it and it honestly works.

Here's another product you'll laugh about, but it works. I made my own with a bright blue craft foam type material that I picked up at my local dollar store, a strip of velcro also bought at the dollar store, and some of that sticky tanglewood stuff that I picked up at my local hardware store garden center. I may look funny out in my garden with my funny hat, but I don't care how I look as long as I'm not being stalked by those monster flies, LOL!

MONTANA: I DID laugh at the Trolling Deer Fly Traps and The Patch but, like you said, if it works, who cares? Both go to show the extremes we'll go to to avoid the misery inflicted by these bugs. We have a small woods where I enjoy clearing brush, etc., but when it's 90 degrees and I'm perspiring, it's as if I'm red meat for sharks - flying sharks. Thanks for the links and suggestions.
While trolling Google, I stumbled on another interpretation of the problem:

Is that disturbing or what?

You're welcome. Hey, people laugh and I laugh with them
It's disturbing that people will unfortunately believe the rubbish in that link....case in point " as with any virus, should you contract the West Nile Virus, a natural antibiotic such as colloidal silver, colloidal gold, or colloidal titanium can eliminate them. "
Semi offtopic : It's amazing that the state govt's do NOTHING to track the spread of wnv in horses. The research I do is primarily based around it and ironically enough would provide a FAR more accurate forecaster of potential human cases.
</rant> hah
I'm still on page one, but am posting to say that was me on Abuzz, about the deet and lavender, farmerman. It worked perfectly, and I was in visible clouds of mosquitoes at a memorial service for my aunt, by Lake Pond'Oreille, Idaho. No bites.
