Renan liked being called "CRUM"

Could anyone please explain, why

Renan liked to be called "Crum" is wrong? Or if it is really wrong.

To me Renan liked being called... sounds correct and logical.

I feel there is something wrong with He liked to be called...
but I don't know what it is, if it is wrong.

actually, isn't this based on the teaching that
both
I like to eat
and
I like eating
is correct?

In that case,
both Renan liked to be called...
and
Renan liked being called

is correct, right?
