Just before I head south, to Nettie's place, margo had some more things to do.

We went to a live radio show! Thank God It's Friday goes live to air on Friday afternoons (surprise!) and margo's mate Mark had tickets for us.
http://blogs.abc.net.au/nsw/2010/10/the-tgif-page-listen-podcast-or-get-involved-in-2010.html?site=sydney&program=702_drive

Here I'm in the audience - just before the show starts:

No pictures during the show - which was quite funny. The host, Richard Glover, raged on about men's enhancement underpants, apparently available from Marks and Spencer in the UK! (although we didn't see them when we were there!)

We then went to a restaurant in Pyrmont, for early dinner.

The restaurant, 1945, serves food of the Dutch East Indies, or so the menu said! Mark and margo, and their friends Anne and Peter, all had the rijstaffel (not too sure about that spelling!) for two - I was allowed to share:

Anne and Pete made short work of theirs. The three of us couldn't finish ours:

Today we have some shopping, and then over to a friend Bill's place for lunch. Apparently Bill's apartment has a great view but can be a bit scary. (have you noticed that a lot of margo's excursions include food??)

Well - we did actually get to margo's friend Bill's place - it's just taken longer than usual for margo to get her act together.

Bill lives in an apartment right on the point at Queenscliff, to the north of Manly Beach, which is a northern suburb of Sydney.

Here I am clinging on for dear life. Next stop New Zealand:

Apparently whales were playing here in the morning, but margo's mate Cesylie, who was coming with us and had to be collected (and her stupid dog!), was running late, so we were late, and the whales kept heading south. Sad

Bill has a fantastic fish tank, with heaps of inquisitive fishes:

@ossobuco,
Penny, that is not your most photogenic angle.

Well, somebody had to tell her.

Looking to the south, there was a monster storm brewing over Manly:

It was pretty spectacular, with lots of lightning and thunder.

Here's Manly and the beach as the storm headed out to sea:

As we looked further to the south, we could see the old seminary, St Patrick's College. It's now a hotel training school. In the chapel here, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were married (after she divorced that short, creepy, fella). Margo is still amazed that Keith Urban, even at his wedding, still had a 3-day growth, and looked like an unkempt echidna (whatever that looks like!)

Just past here is North Head, the northern head of the entry to Sydney Harbour. It's part of Sydney Harbour National Park. There's an old quarantine station there, which is said to be haunted. We didn't get to go there, however, as margo had been before, at night, done the ghost tour, and said she wasn't going back there, thank you! Rolling Eyes

She says it's pretty spectacular and interesting in daylight, but we were out of time on this trip.

I head south to Nettie's place next week. Stay tuned.

I forgot to mention, Bill's partner, Rakesh, is a great cook - and turned on a brilliant lunch. Apart from some lovely spicy chicken and rice, there was this fantastic shredded lettuce salad, with pine nuts, crunchy noodles, some other stuff, and a great dressing.

Just the sort of thing that a hungry hamster (like moi) loves!

And there was a really colourful fruit salad afterwards. Spring in Sydney - great fruits!

Unfortunately, margo was so busy filling her face, there are no pics!

And then we watched an Asterix and Obelix movie on Bill's great new TV set-up (margo was heard to mutter something about boys' toys!)

Penny? I never knew you were a thrill seeker? Have you always flirted with danger?

She's got quite brave, since Barry gave her the whistle with accompanying colourful shoelace. I suppose she figures she can use the whistle if she ever gets into real strife.
