Hope you (and Penny) have a good time at the Carnival today Bazza, and don't suffer lasting damage to the old eardrums.

Yesterday, I stayed on the DLR to Bank, intending to stroll past St Paul's and up Fleet Street to Leicester Square (for Piccadilly Line tube), but a sudden squall made me change my plans, and I took Central Line to Holborn. OK?

Penny and I have just got back from a brilliant first day of Carnival (we only got rained on once). With the easy part over (taking them),now comes the long boring bit,loading them up.Back ASAP.

Early morning start.We got the bus to Lewisham.Got the DLR to Bank station.Got on the subway to Notting Hill Gate.WRONG STATION! Should have been Westbourne Park.Silly me!Asked a policeman for directions.After a 15 minute walk we were back in the same familiar area as last year.Got 2 new whistles,just in case any more get lost on her journeys.It was a sunny/cloudy morning.Couldn't really tell how it was gonna turn out.Anyway,around 11am it all kicked off....

Each group is led into Carnival by big trucks,stacked out with loudspeakers,pumping out Caribbean music.As they pass you can feel the airwaves pounding your chest.Here's a truck with a Steel Band on it....

I read that the Notting Hill Carnival is a trouble magnet, and over 5000 police were rostered - they must have known that Penny was coming!

There has been a little trouble in the past fourty years it's been running.Only to be expected when,over the 2 days,over a million peeps come to enjoy the show.Some drink too much,others are arrested for drugs.The reason there were so many Cops this year was because of the riots in London a couple of weeks back and they didn't want it kicking off all over again.This is the second time I've been to Carnival and have never felt intimidated or afraid.
I've posted some small video clips on Photobucket taken on Sunday.Lets see if this works....

Carnival - Day 2.
Me and the Penster got there WAY too early yesterday,so we adjusted our alarm clocks for an extra 2 hours sleep in.We went to our usual place on the Carnival parade line and met Carl.He's the guy wearing the cap....
