Penny is doing Intake with me as we speak.

She was warned it was hell...but is surprised to find that (so far) it has been quiet (crossing everything and touching wood.)

Penny has not seen a lot of the place yet, since I have basically been working/eating and sleeping.

She will get around more on the weekend, and is walking to work with me tomorrow.

Hi!!!

I am using Deb's Intake computer.

I just had lunch with a bunch of Deb's workmates, and they were very nice.

They thought it would be fun to take me places, so, this weekend a nice person called Sarah is taking me home, and I will be visiting a little place in the Adelaide Hills called Hahndorf. Sarah will also take me other places she is going, like the cinema.

http://www.adhills.com.au/tourism/towns/hahndorf/

Some other people thought they might take me to their homes, too. Melissa is one of these people. She lives in Prospect, which is a great suburb close to the city, with lots of old houses.

I seem to be very popular here!!!!

Deb said that I am in North Adelaide today.

She said that this is one of the older parts of Adelaide.

Here is a map.

http://www.hoteltravel.com/australia/adelaide/maps/north_adelaide_map.gif

Deb says that lots of people in North Adelaide have a lot of money, and that there are many grand homes, but also little workers' cottages and other humbler places dating from the late early 19th century.

here is some info:

North Adelaide stuff

More stuff with photos

It is a lovely place to walk around, and a great place to come for coffee and food and pubs.

Deb says that it is amazing to her to be able to see lovely parks and buildings, because she worked for so long in a place that was very ugly and where most people were very poor, but she feels a bit bad for being so lucky to work somewhere nice.

here's a cottage:

I've been to Handorf Penny, It was really really busy. There were lots and lots of people looking at things in shops, eating, drinking and enjoying the sunshine.

Have a great time in Adelaide.

Hi!

I am typing from Deb's work computer.....(at lunchtime, she just asked me to say!).

Deb is taking a photo of me as I type.

I had a great time with Sarah, and I will write more when Sarah is able to upload the photos.

I went to Hahndorf AND Port Elliott, which is a little town south of Adelaide with fabulous beaches and stuff.

I'm at work with Deb today, and she is about to take me down to lunch to meet more people.

I am then going across the road to see where she and the others actually see clients.......and hopefully get to meet some of Deb's puppets (I think they're my sort of people.)

Deb took some photos of me today!!! Her desk is a disgrace.

Bye for now!!!

Deb said some funny words last night.....I am not sure what they meant.

We sat down to post our photos, but Deb couldn't find the cable that allows her phone to download photos to her computer.

She said some words I didn't understand, and then said she would have to go and buy a new ******* connector cable.

What does ******* mean?

Sarah said she would help me to talk about our time together soon, and she will put some photos in.

Sarah doesn't say funny words like Deb, and she seems to have all her cables.

Love Penny

Nevertheless, even with a cableless bunny you're enjoying, Penny. Great!

And re the *****: you certainly remember a few of those words I've taught you in German.
***** is similar to those.

You mean, Deb's a few cables shy of a network? I have wondered about this, before.

My visit with Sarah, Boris & Stella
I've had a pretty exciting weekend with Sarah, Boris and Stella the dog. First, I went home with Sarah on the bus. It was a lot of fun looking out the window as we travelled through the city!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261669128O278996805.jpg

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261669132O774187018.jpg

When I got home to Sarah and Boris's house, I got to meet Stella. She is black and white and told me that she is a "kelpie cross border collie". At first I was pretty scared when I met her, but then I realised that she was more scared of me! Then we became friends.

On Saturday, I went to a place called Hahndorf which is in the Adelaide hills. Sarah told me that the town was set up by German settlers. We went to the German Arms Hotel with some of Sarah and Boris's friends, and I got to meet Wiebke, a friend of Sarah and Boris's who is a German exchange student. She was very nice and wanted a photo with me.

After we ate lunch, I went and had some funny photos taken with me and a statue of a German man, and Boris and I pretended we were German people!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668540O775263578.jpg

After that, we went to a cool place called "Chocolate No. 5" where I talked to lots of Sarah's friends.

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668564O982107023.jpg

I even got to meet Mitchell the baby and his dad Mark. Mitchell said that he was only born 4 months ago! Wow, I have been travelling for longer than that!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668566O261599076.jpg

Once I had talked to everyone, I saw Sarah's chocolate milkshake. It looked very VERY nice.

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668569O941452365.jpg

So I had some of her drink when she wasn't looking! It was so yummy!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668572O517790968.jpg

After all of that, I was very tired! The next day, I went to Port Elliot with Sarah, Boris, Stella, and Boris's friend Dale. Boris and Dale said that they wanted to go surfing there. There was some great views at the beach.

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668574O869501181.jpg

While Boris and Dale surfed, Sarah, Stella and I played with a tennis ball, walked on the beach and sat and watched the boys surfing. It looked like a lot of fun, but the waves were too big for me to try!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668606O428678827.jpg

We made a sandcastle and I got to be queen of the castle! I was glad because I had my crown and it sparkled in the sunlight!

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668609O476789833.jpg

After a very big day, we had to say goodbye to the beach.

http://photo.ringo.com/261/261668634O746905253.jpg

I enjoyed my adventures with Sarah and Boris and now I am ready to go back to Deb and see what else I can do on my big adventure!

Wowee! Wonderful wonderful stuff! What a lot of pictures.

Ooh, the ocean pics are great. We were just there a month or so ago, I so want to go back. (Well, "there" as in "at the beach," not that *particular* beach of course..!)

Also love the baby pic!

Sozlet's at school, she'll be SO happy to see this stuff...

Wow -- Adelaide has buses just like ours in Munich!

It's good to see Germany taking over other parts of Australia, too.

Hmmmmmmm...there has been some Teutonic sounding muttering going on in the corner sometimes....

Well spotted....I think they are made by Mercedes.

Do the buses in Munich curtsey when they pick you up?

I am bracing myself to wake up early enough to take Penny into the Anzac Day dawn service tomorrow.

When I SAY dawn, I MEAN dawn, though.....I can handle dawns when I was up all night to greet them.....but getting up for one?

It's kind of like your Memorial Day, but, being Australians, we choose to date it and name it after a huge bloody British led balls-up in WW I, that hopelessly and needlessly led to the slaughter of huge numbers of Australian and Kiwi (and British) troops and ended in total defeat.
