Hasn't Penny gotten out to the west coast yet? I'd still like to take her to see the ocean and the Redwoods, but I hadn't said anything because I figured somebody else in Cali would prolly have it covered already and it would just be redundant... but if she hasn't been out this way yet, she could hang out on the beach (brr!), and check out some art classes and stuff...?

P.S. this is such a fun thread! I hadn't checked it out in a while, just spent like an hour catching up on everything, so cute!! So nice of Dag to set up an account for Penny Laughing

Did you hear? I came in second in the football pool this weekend?

Hamsters rule!

Last night ehBeth went to meet some friends in Little India to celebrate Diwali.

This Diwali, may you be blessed with good fortune as long as Ganeshji's trunk, wealth and prosperity as big as his stomach, happiness as sweet as his ladoos and may your trouble be as small as his mouse.

ehBeth's friends Nina and Prabhu (you've seen them in photos at Able2Know before) brought their sons Nathan and Tarasz out for the festival.

They went to a really neat restaurant - with a carriage right inside!

I sat on the carriage

Prabhu told us that the carriage was built in Pakistan and shipped to Canada.

I sat at the table while we were waiting for the food to arrive.

we ordered from this menu (it was a bit messy by the end of the meal)

The carriage really was so cool - how often do you see something like this inside a restaurant?

Nathan got sleepy while we were waiting for the food.
He's still pretty young.

His dad got sleepy AFTER we ate.

He's watching me and Nathan's hippo try to get into the chicken.

The adults had pistachio kulfi and then the restaurant people gave Nathan a mango kulfi. He shared it with his dad.

He wanted to share it with me and his little brother, Tarasz (he's REALLY little), but his mom said not this year.

After we ate and talked, we went outside and saw this really cute little scooter-cab.

I pretended to drive for a while.

Nathan made sure ehBeth didn't forget me when we left the restaurant yard.

He's pretty nice for a two year old.

We went home so ehBeth could call the hamburgers, and Nathan and Tarasz went home to sleep.

That was a fun evening.

Penny's not so good at linking all the time, so I'm helping out

Once upon a time, our Dasha had a bf who came from the same country as Prabhu. Nina's from Ukraine. Prabhu and Nina make beautiful beautiful children. I dreamt of those beautiful babies for Dasha - well, really for me to visit - but for Dasha too.

and OssoB - the prices are crazy! chicken kebabs for about $1 each, lamb kebabs $2 each, the rice dishes about $5 each. Good good fresh food. Next time I'll be smarter with the camera and take pix of the food as it arrives!

Oh, that looks great!!

Ganesh is my favorite godling, too -- sozlet gave me a silver Ganesh pendant that I'm wearing now (as I do every day).

Sweet little kids. Love those baby cheeks.

talked too.

That is quite a coincidence, Penny. When I read books, I am usually obsessed with one topic. Right now it happens to be Anne Boleyn, the mother of this here lady. So as you guys went to see the concert, I was reading a book about her and this here lady.

I envy you the Diwali very much. I haven't celebrated it this year.

Penny's got a couple of special events planned over the next few days.

Where should she be off to next?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...

(Good question.)

FreeDuck's doing Morocco in the summer, not December as previously thought. She's still up for taking Penny there then, though, that'll be cool.

Cyphercat, would you like to be next? Farmerman?

I think I'll see who else is interested who lives in North America, then send her on an Aussie leg.

Let me get a leg in here and make an announcement: I expect to return to Munich in February for a final week or so of clean-ups, hand-overs, and other things you do when you move. So if you send Penny to my New Jersey address in February (exact address and date to be determined), I could take her on a short tour of Southern Germany. After that, I can either send her on to Australia or bring her back for a few more US stops.

That sounds good!

So North America until February, then Australia after Thomas.

Germany would be great! (Penny likes it although she's been here only two days [watching, perhaps some more time in 'the box'].
