ehBeth, Setanta, the dogs and I went on a road trip today.

We drove north and then east to a cute little town called Uxbridge.

ehBeth was there to get a new tattoo. Setanta and the dogs went for walks, and looked for burgers.

Everyone was successful.

~~~
ehBeth asked me to look over the contract, while Grazzhopper started working on the actual design.
I prepare to sign the contract for ehBeth
Jamie's still working on the pattern. This took about half an hour - he looked at the original picture, decided on the size and direction, then prepared a design template.
While Grazzhopper was getting the ink and stuff ready, I watched his apprentice Dougie freehand a practice piece.
this is what ehBeth came home with
http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/29603/2122368000098509452S425x425Q85.jpg
this is her poem
The Song of
The Fuchsia Fairy
Fuchsia is a dancer
Dancing on her toes,
Clad in red and purple,
By a cottage wall;
Sometimes in a greenhouse,
In frilly white and rose,
Dressed in her best for the fairies' evening ball!
We've been a bit busy since the tattoo adventure.
Saturday, Penny joined Setanta and the girls (Kathy, Teresa, ehBeth and the Empress) on an evening out - snacks at Cafe Demetre and then a concert.
Things were a little confusing at the beginning. Kathy was inside the restaurant while everyone else was outside waiting for her. Just as Penny and ehBeth started to look around at other restaurant options, Penny spotted Kathy inside, looking around and enjoying a cup of tea. The camera was forgotten in the ensuing hilarity.
Cafe Demetre is in http://www.waycoolcafe.com/SIGN%20GREEKTOWN.jpg
with the church hosting the concert just down the block.
Teresa's snack looked very much like this Shocked
Here ... click ... are the programme notes from the concert we went to. The acoustics were amazing.
This guy
http://www.academyconcertseries.com/www_Nicolai-artistic_director2.jpg
was wild. He sold the tickets, set up the hall, took the tickets, played in 5 out of 6 pieces, set up the cookie trays for intermission, was the m.c., handled the lights ... we're going to offer to help with set up next time we go.
The concert was here
Penny had been past it a few times in the past weeks, as the bellydance studio is almost directly across the street.
When we got back from the concert, I had a snooze with Bailey.
Sunday morning, I chilled with Cleo while the people zoomed around doing all kinds of stuff.
ehBeth was quite surprised how well we get on.
Cleo's not always been the friendliest. I heard the people talk about how Cleo's socialization has been going verra well.
On Sunday we were off to another church. Well, I'd actually been there before, but it was a different concert. (that woman goes to a lot of concerts, or does it just seem that way to me?)
ehBeth had me save her seat, and hold the programme, while she went to get a coffee and cookie at the pre-concert lecture
these are the pipes of the pipe organ
kinda neat how the bottom looks like the mouthpiece of a woodwind instrument
here ... click ... is a link to a nice page with a bit of organ/recorder music when it opens
here's another view of the opening of organ pipes
very cool to think about how they make music
in this picture you can see the keyboard the organist uses - and you can just see the bottom of the wall the pipes are in
After intermission, I moved to a spot closer to the edge of the balcony - I could listen through the spaces in the gothic carvings
The concert was really good, but I was sure glad to get back to the house to relax for a day or so.
On Monday and Wednesday night we went to bellydance class here.
http://www.discoverbellydance.com/images/header.jpg
Our regular Monday night teacher was off with the cold we had last week.
Anuka
taught instead. She'd just had laser eye surgery so she wore sunglasses. Very funny!
