At lunch, ehBeth and The Empress and I went down to the Food Court to get some salad and stuff. Then we came back up to the lunchroom to chat. The Empress had a lot of questions about my trip.

***

There was a buncha cool stuff in the lunchroom - big tv, foozball table, fish tank. I can hardly wait to show you all!

Penny needed to go upstairs for a bit of a break.

I promised I'd finished her post about the lunchroom.

Penny quite enjoyed looking at the fish tank

and snuck a peek into someone's book when it seemed the fish were going to keep swimming around and around

Penny somehow got the idea that going to the lunchroom meant begging for lunch from everyone ...

including Kerry

Toward the end of the day, ehBeth introduced me to Raymond.

There was some kind of joke about how he's got a coffee cup implanted at the end of his hand.

He seemed cool with it.

Rob, Ryan and Randi, GolfGuy and BirthdayBear made me feel very welcome.

I liked going to work.

Randi is apparently some kind of actress. I looked at her Alfa Oscar.

I was pretty tired when we left.

I was glad to get my own seat on the subway.

There was only a short break when we got home. Then we had to leave to go to a concert. Phew. ehBeth needs more nap time. I know I do.

Penny was having some problems with the concert program so I said I'd pop by with it.

Toronto Consort

Penny enjoyed the concert but did seem a bit puzzled by how excited I got by some of the instruments (the bandora and cittern).

A bit of an article about the Consort and what else they're up to these days

Toronto Consort gets Elizabethan with queen's letters, speeches and poetry set to music

Quote:
The 16th century has never been hotter.

First it was Cate Blanchett playing Elizabeth I on the big screen. Then came Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Henry VIII on television.

Two Sunday ago, Opera in Concert presented Gaetano Donizetti's opera about Anne Boleyn at the Jane Mallett Theatre.

And for two nights, starting tomorrow, the Toronto Consort is presenting Elizabeth I in music and her own words at Trinity-St. Paul's Church, with the help of actor Karen Woolridge in full Elizabethan costume.

Few people know Tudor better than the Toronto Consort and its artistic director David Fallis. When the producers of the Showtime television series The Tudors (now being broadcast on CBC) needed source music for each episode, they turned to the Toronto Consort.

Fallis is thrilled with the television series, which is already in its second season south of the border. The Irish-Canadian co-production has meant substantial extra income for the members of the Consort, while also giving Fallis an excuse to delve even more deeply into a musical era that is close to his heart.

Elizabeth I, the daughter of Henry VIII by his second wife, Anne Boleyn (the first season of The Tudors is still showing Henry in love with first wife, Catherine of Aragon), reigned from 1558, right after she had turned 25, to her death in 1603.

This period left a rich legacy of theatre through playwrights Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, for example, and music - from composers such as William Byrd, Thomas Morley and John Dowland.

The concert was interesting. Nice music and singing. Some lady, dressed up like this one

http://photos-769.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v130/43/46/561310769/n561310769_463766_9466.jpg

talked too.

We read along in the program. The English they used was a bit different. Elizabethan (d'oh) they said.

On Saturday, ehBeth and I did errands. Setanta and the dogs stayed home. I wonder how I can get that gig.

I helped load grocery bags at Loblaws

http://photos-769.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v130/43/46/561310769/n561310769_463826_9160.jpg

I helped load the car

I helped push the carts back to the store (this guy was sooooooo cool)

He had big holes in his ears, with black plugs in them.

Finally, after some shopping at La Vie en Rose, we went home.

Hi sozlet!

It's great to see you. I hope you don't mind if I just rest and snuggle with you when I get home. All of this travelling can be tiring!

Hi it's me again (soz the elder).

What a cornucopia! We've been really enjoying this stuff. Sozlet just read a book about Shakespeare and Elizabethan times so she liked seeing that. And her tooth fairy note on the wall, and and and...

Plus it's nice to see some people from your workplace, I've heard a lot about them in general or specific ways... looks like a great group!

ehBeth agreed to take it a bit slower today (maybe it's that cough medicine she was drinking kicking in)

I'm going to snooze with Cleo and Bailey.

they seem to like me

and to be able to relax when I'm around (Bailey thinks I'm a neckroll - it's ok, he's not heavy)
