PENNY!
I'm so glad you're out of that box and get to stretch out and circulate in social circles again.

Remember to post your accounts, too. Tell us all about Beth and Setanta, what they're REALLY like. Just in case, here's your username and password again: PennyAroundTheWorld and sozlet.

I'm sure you'll have a blast with those two crazy birds and their dog pack. Can't wait to see how quickly you'll get that camel walk in Beth's belly dancing class!

Yayyyy! Hi there Penny!

She must be having so much fun with her stuffed companions -- her remarkably patient canine companions too.

(P.S. I really like Birthday Boy's shirt!)

Okay - so ehBeth keeps crazy hours and that little red dog is a bit weird.

Bailey and I snoozed last night while ehBeth put up pictures from the tea party, which was totally fun - except when the bear dressed as a lady bug and Eeyore in his antlers had a bit of a fight about who would sit next to me in the group photo.

ehBeth didn't turn out the lights until waaaaay after midnight. No wonder she has suitcases for the bags under her eyes.

Then, around 1:30 a.m. the barking started. Turns out the red dog doesn't see well at night, and when she wants to jump into the bed, someone has to turn the light on for her. Which would be fine, but she freakin' hops out, and then wants back up later. What a twerp!

ehBeth and Bailey seem to be kinda cool with it, and I don't think the big guy even hears her, but that dog is a BIT annoying.

ehBeth got up early, it was like being back with Walter, and we headed off to work.

Can you believe it, it wasn't entirely light yet, and she was walking somewhere. She carried me and her camera, and wore (is that the right word) a crazy lavender plaid knapsack.

She showed me her 'location'

That's the Danny (or Danforth) at the end of that street.

We stopped at the corner, at Mr. Chan's house, and ehBeth told me stuff about those trees and what good care he takes of them.

Maybe I can be in a photo with Mr. Chan sometime before I leave. He seems quite nice.

His trees ...

(and did you see - more signs!)

http://inlinethumb43.webshots.com/28650/2139088210098509452S425x425Q85.jpg

and then there were traffic calming signs

apparently they're new and ehBeth finds them interesting (I wonder if she's a bit tooooooo easily amused)

I have to admit ehBeth was right about this place. The colours of the trees are nice (if not as fascinating as she might suggest - she's a bit weird about trees and leaves and junk like that)

http://inlinethumb13.webshots.com/29772/2005709690098509452S500x500Q85.jpg

we walked, turned a corner, walked some more, turned another corner, and then she said she could see the subway parking lot. weird.

http://inlinethumb62.webshots.com/27581/2383829740098509452S425x425Q85.jpg

we walked some more, and then I finally saw the bus platform at the subway station

Look - more signs! This town is full of signs. Lotsa rules Confused

uhhhhhh, this is me (d'oh) paying for the subway ride to the office

ehBeth is very safety conscious. She made me read the escalator-riding rules before we used the escalator.

Inside the subway. It's very different from New York City's subway. Much brighter and cleaner and less stinky here in Toronto.

After that burst of posting energy, Penny's taking a bit of a nap.

She'll be back later with photos of the people she met, and helped, at the office.

She also posed for some photos when we went to a Toronto Consort concert last night.

The Queen
November 9 & 10, 2007

Which queen? you ask. Why, can there be any other than Fair Oriana, our good Queen Bess, she who claimed to have the body "of a weak and feeble woman" but to "have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too"? By whom we mean Elizabeth I, who reigned over the golden age of English music and literature, and was herself a brilliant writer. Join us we celebrate this remarkable monarch, with music for voices, lutes, bandora, cittern, gambas, violin and keyboards, and actor Karen Woolridge playing the part of Her Majesty herself!

First, sozlet is happy happy happy to see Penny!

She loved the stuffed animal shots. She also "awwed" copiously at the Penny-Bailey shot. ("So cute!!")

Farmerman, the first post on this thread contains most of the info I think. Basically, Penny the stuffed hamster is traveling (with a small notebook) to visit various A2Kers. They then post pictures of her doing stuff. She's been to, lesse, Chicago, New York, Boston, Germany, Tulsa, Puerto Rico, New Brunswick, Boston (again) and Toronto so far. (Something like that.) She has Australia (a few stops) and Morocco in her future, and a standing invitation to Cambodia.

Sozlet says: "When Penny comes back, every time I take her somewhere she's gonna say, 'been there, done that.'" :-D

That would be Penny, sozlets globe trotting hamster. Penny is traveling the A2K world and assisting to broaden sozlets (and everyones) horizons by giving us all a more in depth look into the lives of A2Kers around the globe.

Ther have been lots of town and cityscapes so far, I think a look at a farm landscape would be excellent.

Farmerman should put his name on the list.

All those in favor of penny visiting the farm raise your right hand and say aye.

I just recently returned from a country where guinea pig is considered like a "bucket o chicken" around here.

Do hamsters have a guinea pig-like flavor?

I suppose some time in the country would be ok for the little rat.

That she did! And enjoyed it very much. (I was making a mental catalogue of images from her travels -- I'm sure I forgot others, too.)

Things were a little busy yesterday so <phew> I'm just getting ready to tell more about "take your hamster to work day" at ehBeth's office now.

***

Once we got off the second subway, we walked through some tunnels and saw lots of little restaurants and stores. Canadians seem to drink a lot of coffee. ehBeth wouldn't let me try any.

Once we got into the building ehBeth works in, there was a sign telling us how to get back to the food. These people are all about the sign.

This is Robert.

He's the front desk guy - the concierge - at the building we worked in on Friday. He showed me his computer screens and logs - he keeps track of everything going on in the building and helps people who work there organize things.

The inside of the elevator going upstairs is VERY shiny, kind of like the kettle at ehBeth's house AND there's a little t.v. in there.

Once we got inside the office this guy - Chris - came over to meet me again. He took a picture of me on Thursday with Penny that sits next to him. It's on his phone?

We went over to his desk and he asked if I'd wear his Toronto Maple Leafs jersey and pose for a picture with him.

I was sooo down with that.

After a while, ehBeth said she HAD to have some tea.

I went along to the lunchroom to help her pick out her morning tea.

Some people were really happy to see me.

This is Jan. She signed my journal on Thursday when I arrived. She's really cool. She has lots of cats and dogs and children.

http://inlinethumb49.webshots.com/29936/2333765450098509452S500x500Q85.jpg

Then there was Steve. We busted him running out of the lunchroom with the Fred Claus gift wrap. He was funny. I think I heard people calling him a ham.

We spent most of the day at ehBeth's desk. She has a LOT of calendars. One of them had a picture of a bookstore I went to with Walter when we were in New York. I also recognized Sozlet's handwriting on a piece of paper on the wall. It was kind of nice to have that reminder of her.

http://inlinethumb24.webshots.com/30103/2211957940098509452S425x425Q85.jpg

ehBeth dropped some papers off with this lady - Tammy. Tammy talks to people all day on the phone.

A bit later, The Empress came over. She was really glad to see me again. We had a lot of fun together in New York, even if Walter was a bit of a chaperone.
