Well......it didn't happen yet. There were insurmountable problems at the County Clerk's office on Monday and there was no way to obtain a marriage license in New York. So we've come up with a very much more romantic, fun and practical idea.
We're closing the jewelry store on Sunday, Mother's Day. Then we're taking the train out to Bernie's ex-wife's house on Long Island where the car is temporarily stored (we didn't want it to be subjected to New York City parking conditions.) We'll spend the night at Lea's house, then drive the new auto to the ferry at Port Jefferson. We and the car will arrive in Bridgeport CT and drive to Greenwich CT where we've been assured by the Town Clerk herself that we can get a marriage license on Monday. We'll spend the night in a very nice bed and breakfast with a special room for newly weds (it's very nice) and on Tuesday we'll have a yummy breakfast some place nice and drive back to Bridgeport to pick up Lea (It's only about 30 minutes away) then back to Greenwich for the wedding at 2 PM at the home of a very nice and accommodating Justice of the Peace. She'll preform the ceremony at her home, if weather permits on her deck which she informs us is in the woods. Lea will provide the bouquet of flowers for Bernie. Sounds lovely doesn't it?
So we'll keep you all updated. Thanks for the wishes of well being.
All right, you can go ahead on this.
Thanks for your blessing, Osso.....we were worried you wouldn't approve.
I assure you all that photos will be provided.
How exciting!
Thanks for keeping us informed, Lola. I know that you and Bernie will (continue to) be very happy.
That sounds really great ...
(And I hope, my post will arrive before all that!)
Walter,
I'm so sorry we're missing you. But Portland in 08 will be fantastic.
The course of true love ne're did....
Without a bit of pre-planning and a lot of flexibility.
Plan B sounds delightful.
Good plan, Lola! Is Frank Apisa keeping up with the change in plans?

Now I know why you and Blatham fought so hard to save his life after his heart attack. You both wanted to get hitched. Great decision. Ain't romance grand?
BBB
Romance is grand. Don't tell anyone I told you but Bernie is actually a sweetie.

Awe, I already knew that. Give him a big kiss for me.

ptfooey and hurray
(ptfooey to NY, hurray to Connecticut!)
My sincere best wishes for you both. Your characters (as I can know them here) are not only appealing and engaging, but well matched. In short you are both crazy in complimentary ways.
Happiness is not something that happens to us - we create it for ourselves if we are wise. I wish you both lots of it.
You too McTag. For a dour Scot you just might have some possibilities.

I'm afraid all my possibilities and might-have-beens, George
I'm going fishing today, fly-fishing for trout. Tight lines to me.
Somebody help! I need a reminder about how to post photos.
