NH - we all agree that this isn't a doctor's office and we all know that none of us are doctors - you made your point with one of those posts.
Thanks all.

Thanks all.
Some of us are doctors!
ok, but we dumbasses still get your point without your having to repeat it.
Good to hear you'll be talking to an IRL doctor about this, Ms.K. Take care of yourself.

There is where good health insurance is important.
Beth, haven't made an appointment - may end up being months before I can get in for a physical.
harrumph
why so long? won't health insurance cover attendance at walk-ins for consults and blood tests - that sort of thing?
Beth - sure, if they decide it's worth a walk-in I could be in there next week.
Some of us just need to take our meds
k, just check with your doctor and dont stress
You can do your own testing via saliva tests for hormone levels and other things. The book I recommended earlier tells how to do it and where to find the resources you'll need.
Butrfly, my doctor housemate says that the saliva tests aren't accurate.
I saw my doc on tuesday and described the symptoms. She ordered tests for blood glucose and thyroid function. Both tests came back with results in the normal range. Ok, good.... until today. I was shopping at Target (I love Target!) and I Had a reallllly strong flash. I had sweat beading on the skin below my eyes, my forhead and upper lip. More schvitzing than usual for me. I was feeling shaky, too. I thought maybe I hadn't had enough food/water - drank last night - and I bought some chocolate for a quick fix and had a slice of pizza later. But, the flash was long gone by the time I ate or drank those.
So, I'm back to wondering about my hormones. The housemate doc, mentioned above, says I should keep an eye on the flashes and ask the doc to do a full female hormone test.
Using this thread as a bit of a journal.....
flashes again? jeesh k...it is a bit perplexing with it being a completely different time of year and environment you were in/involved with.
Yeah, a whole work up I think might be a good idea, if nothing else it will give you a point to compare to later on.
Yep. And I can grill the h.mate about it in the mean time.
flashing again - hot flashing, that is...... could be because I'm getting sick, but I'm not sure. Jst a little documentation here.....
LittleK, you might want to try taking a magnesium supplement. Recently at a women's herbal health conference there was a discussion on what happens during peri & menopause and a (real) doctor mentioned she believed as women aged they lost magnesium at a greater rate than younger women. There seemed to a connection between magnesium and hot flashes because when women added the magnesium supplement to their diet their hot flashes noticeably decreased.
Littlek, I am 28 and have hot flashes. My mom had them at my age to. I think that being a woman means weird hormonal changes throughout our lives that cause our bodies to betray us long before we think they should.
