No no, I think it is, especially if you run into that type.

Of course I said that in joking to slappy, but there is that type of guy, basically a male chauvanist.

The type of man who doesn't think women know anything, even if they are obviously smarter, better educated, etc.

A woman could tell such a man she was on the verge of discovering the cure for cancer, and he would tell her "Oh, that's nice honey, now why don't you run along and do something useful like knit me a sweater"

Confused They're also the ones who don't know you but will call you things like "honey, dearie, little girl" as a way to put you down.

Regarding the way you would call your parents friends...we do have that to an extent here.
There were several people I called Aunt or Uncle growing up, that I had no relation to.

Also, if you have a distant relative that's closer to your age, you might call him or her "cousin" even though the relationship is more distant.

One notable exception, ANN COULTER is most properly addressed as "dude"

Hmmm.... through my life, girls have been called dude. I've called my girlfriends dude. Guys have called me dude. I guess mostly it's in a sort of funny way.

I call women "dudesse", as when meeting one one the street and they say, "Hey, Dude", I will casually respond with, "Hey, Dudesse"

It is the feminine form of Dude and works well in most social settings.

Dude is useful when addressing girls you have no interest in having sex with, and to whom you would like that fact made clear.

Girls do it all the time. Except they say, "Hey Buddy!"

Where I work at present, there are about 25 young people (under 25) and they call each other dude all the time - girls and guys. Yes, it's appropriate in today's world.
