I just want to see a SHITLOAD of violent death and horrific methods of it..
(I've been on the phone today with the IRS and am currently on hold with the DMV so you can understand my feelings)
The "old" mob seldom went in for inflicting horrific deaths ... they garner far too much publicity. Killing cops, unaffiliated civilians, or one another's private families were highly discouraged for the same reason. There isn't much profit in killing folks, except when its a matter of survival. Gang wars are bad for business, in the chaos profits go down and public pressure to suppress and crush organized crime increases. Whenever possible the mob likes to have a sit down and dictate a peace that keeps family problems within the family.
The most common mob hit is two .22 cal. to the back of the head, anything more is wasteful. When we hear of drug war atrocities, gutting, face/tongue and genital mutilations, cut throats, etc., the probabilities are one of the South American Drug cartels. The old mob hated to leave bodies laying around, and had a wealth of sometimes gory means of accomplishing a Vanishing Act. Jimmy Hoffa is still missing, as are countless wise guys who ran afoul of someone within their own family or crew.
The Philly mob was, until the 80's a rather genteel purveyor of sin. After the death of Angelo Bruno by a shotgun blast through the windshield of his Buick Roadmaster, and the subsequent rise of "Little" Nicky Scarfo, the mob, with its substantial interests in Atlantic City Gambling, became quite violent, as did the Families of New York and New Jersey.
While people did go missing, they more often than not showed up some time later as a "floater" or unearthed by burrowing rodents.
Auto recycling centers were popular spots to have excess bodies disposed by hydraulically reducing their volume as they reposed within a car's trunk.
Fortunately about most criminal enterprises, they are not known to be staffed by Rhodes Scholars.
Glad someone else hates AJ as much as me!
I have a question for all you Sopranos fans. How did Big Pussy get that name? Did they ever say?
I had to look it up. They called him Pussy because he was a cat burglar and Big Pussy because there was another Pussy, Pussy Malenga.

just goes to show you can't have enough pussy....
Since I've never had access to HBO, I'm just starting to see the series as it airs on A&E. I have to admit I'm impressed.
Cool. I like that. Thanks.

Oh it's so not the same! The tone, the feel, everything about the show is different on A&E.
You'd be better off renting the dvds, IMO.
was there no show this past Sunday?
Dey skipped a week, bear. To be resoomed next week.
For what? I can't imagine.
Memorial Day?
They had a show on Easter Sunday. Which was pretty intersting.
Dey need a reason?
They're just stringing us along. Making us wait.
It probably was Memorial Day but not because it was Memorial Day. More because it's the first outdoor holiday and the ratings tend to be lower.
I think you hit the nail on the head, Bella.
They showed Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, an HBO movie. Did any one see it? I recorded it but haven't watched it yet.
My old italian teacher e-mailed me and said he's going to be in the last episode somewhere, so I guess I'll be tuning in this weekend, looking for a thin, late-twenties hitman who speaks only italian. What time is it on again?
