my little madam is grumpy today - mid-cuddle something didn't suit and she dug her teeth in my hand to tell me to stop - not vicious - no blood, just a warning - spoilt horror - she doesn't expect you to hold a grudge either! Rolling Eyes

Welcome to A2K. And do tell us more about your 2 critters!

Thank you so much!
I have two girls, Sammy Jo Jones and Angelina. I adopted Sammy Jo when she was just a little ball of fur. I call Sammy Jo my little lion heart because she is the bravest soul I know. She survived liver failure. (And shes a long haired domestic so she has this very fluffy face.) Angelina adopted me years ago. Thats why I call her Angelina, its short for Angel and that's what I thought when this wonderful soul decided she wanted to stay with me. She is a big lover. Everybody loves Angie and she loves everybody. Sammy Jo loves to watch TV. Its so darn cute. I'll be busy doing this or that and I catch Sammy's big blue eyes peeled on the TV, especially documentaries. Angie watches sports with my guy. They are always around us both, but when documentaries or sports are on, we always notice thats when they're watching. Sammy loves to talk. It blows peoples minds when Sammy will come over to join the conversation and meow, then I will say something like, "Okay Sammy, give mommy just a minute." and then she will meow (different tone and pitch) and I will say, "Okay, Sammy, what do you think?" and she will meow (again, different tone and pitch) all the while by making direct eye contact and sitting calmly down. Angie loves music. She will sit in front of the stereo speakers and listen as long as you have the music going. I know I spoil them. But I love it. People who know me well, always inquire on their health. "How are your two cats?" Each time, every time. I have gotten used to having cat fur on every piece of clothing I own. I should have bought stock in 3M adhesives. I have one lint roller in each room, and back-ups to those! I always talk to them directly, (its a habit that can be unsettling for people who don't know me but hear me do this.) because I speak with them like they can understand me. One time, my guy had a friend over. The poor guy was sitting in the living room, when I asked my girls, "So what would you like for dinner? Fish, Chicken or Beef?" When he answered my question, I was so embarrassed. I told him, "Sorry Mike, I was speaking to my cats." Oh well, like I said. I am a big time cat person! Very Happy

Isn't that the truth. Both Sammy and Angie wack me with their tail. It is a very definite thump. If I'm feeling a little bit naughty, I'll grab their tail while it's still whiping around and hold it. That usually gets me a nip. They're not the only ones who can feel playful at times!

Sounds like a person can have some very deep & meaningful coversations with Sammy & Angie! Laughing They sound a wonderful pair. And they were certainly VERY fortunate to have found you!
It is very difficult to explain to people who aren't cat doters how delightful, endlessly fascinating & enchanting, intelligent, sneaky, playful & smart they are! A gift from the gods! Laughing I can see that you are absolutely besotted with yours. Lucky you.

Cheers,
Olga

Good Morning Everyone! Very Happy
Is it just me or do your furballs seem to tell every other feline within a 5 mile radius that "your place" is a "good place" to lie in sun, take a cat nap, grab a quick bite, get a warm hello and a nice scratch from the nice lady, sit in the shade, stay overnight and visit from time to time?
And what are some of the "gifts" your furry visitors have left for you? Some of my "gifts" included lobster shells ( Confused ), a fish head, ( Shocked ) and a poor lizard ( Sad )...right on the front doormat.
Furthermore, how do two rather smart cats communicate this from indoors?? My indoor girls (Sammy & Angie left me a small lizard thing ( Shocked ) thank God it was small, at the foot of my chair, in my home office once.) I'm telling you, they always seem to be thinking about something.... Smile

Hi samantha

I haven't had any thoughtful little gifts lately, but my last one was a mouse, conveniently left in the passage for me. Almost stood on the poor, dead little creature! Shocked I guess it's the thought that counts, yes? <sigh>

She's much more confident now, especially at night - in fact last night i had an awful job persuading her to come in, she was busy prancing about catching (or trying to catch) small moths. She nervous in the day though and likes us to be out with her.

I can see we'll have to do do what we did with Casey and not feed her in the evening until she comes in .....chicken is a much more appealing reason to come in than the fact that i want to go to bed Evil or Very Mad

I daren't leave her out all night because i know little scaredy cat would get frightened. I want himself to fit a catflap.

samantha - no my cats have never brought friends home! and as yet Rosie has only caught flies - yuk! and eaten them Crying or Very sad

Yep, a cat door is a good idea. Would you believe that was my first "renovation" when I moved to this house over a year ago? You can also close them from the inside at night, so's little Ms Independent doesn't get herself into strife in the wee small hours. Rolling Eyes
I love the idea of Rosie happily chasing moths with great abandon! Very Happy

Hi Olga & Vivian!
Olga - I just wanted to thank you for originating this topic. I've been reading the past posts and delighted to hear all the wonderful stories about our favorite felines!
Vivian - May I just say, I took a peek at Rosies photos and she is a cutie pie!
My girl Sammy is fast asleep on my desk, snoring. (Shocked )
Bye for now! Smile

Welcome Samantha&angie, I've been reading your delightful posts, as well as the others, and enjoyed every word.

I haven't been around much lately, so it's quite a chore catching up.

Paddy and Lacey are doing well. Today was the first day in a long time they had to be "INSIDE" all afternoon, as Rae had errands to run, so when I got home they were stir crazy, tripping over me and themselves to get outside to the porch ... they are so funny.

I was just remarking to Rae that Paddy still doesn't like being touched on the belly, and elsewhere only when he's in the mood. He's a strange dude, let me tell you. He loves when you talk softly to him, and acts as tho' he understands every word. Sometimes I could swear I even see tears in his eyes!

He has grown quite a bit, I'm sure he weighs in around 18 lbs.

Lacey is a darling little lady ... she has finally learned to eat treats because Paddy loves them, so just in the last few days she is now demanding her treats!

She is good as gold, as a matter of fact you wouldn't know she was around if she didn't come in for her dinner when I get home from work! She doesn't eat much of it, she just likes the act of jumping on the counter, meowing in her tiny voice, and getting someone to give her something.

She is such a lightweight, you could eat her up. She will never be big, just about the size she is now, which is sort of like a French beret when she's curled up asleep.

What would we do without our kitties?

Well...
Possum is in the bad books today.

He was sitting on me in the middle of the night, and when I tried to shift him, he decided to hang on. So I've got a couple of claw marks around my mouth!

I hollered and he flew off, peeping around the door at me as I went to the bathroom to check out the damage (just more gratuitous bleeding Confused )

All through the night, he kept creeping back in to see if he was forgiven, and then going out again. He was so funny I had to laugh, but let him know he still wasn't popular. He tries really hard to get back in favour.

Here's the avatar pic a bit larger!

That's interesting! Mr Flat Cat seemed to be suffering from 'a touch of the Mikeys' last night, too! He bit me Shocked when I tried to move him off my chest. (It felt like the weight of 6 bricks!!!) What's gotten into him? Confused Normally he's such a pussy cat. Something in the water, do you think?

I thoroughly enjoyed your Lacey & Paddy update!
They both sound such a delight & rather gentle souls. (most likely because of the benefits of living with you & Rae. Very Happy)

I have a picture of you speaking quietly to Paddy about heart felt things, while he listens intently, his eyes growing all misty! Laughing Very Happy

Paddy became quite sociable, by the way, since I first met him a year ago. Seems like Lacy was a bit standoffish. Well, that's cats for you.
