I got back from Spain last night and it seems I cannot move at all without having a cat right next to me.

In Spain, I made friends with three feral cats living next to the hotel near the ocean - a dark grey one, a black and white tuxedo cat and a wonderful red tiger. But of course, they could never take Nisse's and Mysan's place!

Nisse & Mysan must be in cat heaven with your return! Very Happy Isn't it wonderful to be so loved & so missed! Very Happy

In my travels in Bali & Java I found myself being befriended by feral cats, too. They can spot a sucker a mile off & take full advantage, don't they. Laughing

Cats can spot a sucker, but it doesn't hurt that I actually call them to me too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who bonds with the little furballs while away from home.

Thanks all, Screech is indeed a cutie.

I rarely befriend a stray. Can't deal with parting. I'm such a softie.

BTW, I posted a couple of original poems about my late, lamented Miranda. For those who are interested:

Olga, I've got tons of photos but none are digitized. Miranda adored having her picture taken. She also spent a considerable amount of time staring at herself in the mirror.

Vivien, Glad you liked the poems.

Dealing with Miranda was a constant challenge for me. Next to her, Mikey is a, well, pussycat.

Msolga, I think I am as happy as they are :-)

I just can't stop myself when I see cats...

Just talked to my sister. She is painting a big closet. She removed the closet doors and put them on some kind of support to paint them. When they were painted a nice light grey, her cat Hexe jumped up so that one of the doors fell down. Paint still wet of course... The door brushed by Hexe and guess what, no paint on black Hexe - but lots of black cat hair on the door :-) My nephew thinks this is a nice souvenir :-)

Nah, urs, I can't stop myself, either ..... As you might have guessed! Laughing

That's a very clever trick that Hexe does! She's perfected the technique, obviously! Laughing
I love the names of the cats you talk about: Nisse, Mysan & Hexe ... Lovely! Very Happy How did they get these great names?

Laughing about Hexe. How do they manage it?

Miranda stories? Miranda was very smart, very determined, very particular, and very vocal. She wanted things just so. And she wanted what she wanted when she wanted it. Here's one story. She took naps in the linen closet. I decided to clean out the closet and wash what she had been napping on. I did some rearranging and tidying up in there. I was watching tv when I heard "unsettling" noises from the location of the linen closet. She had tossed everything (freshly laundered) on the floor. She glared at me when I came over. I glared back. I tried to put everything in the closet the way it had been. She whined. "What?" I asked. She glared. A standoff. I shut the door to the linen closet. She worked at it and opened it. Tossed a few things on the floor. I tried again to get everything the way it had been. I finally realized that I had moved a stray roll of toilet paper, which she had been using as a pillow. Well, excuuuuuse me.

Timmy, my late and very much missed black and white cat, could open doors.

he would jump up and hook his paws over the door handle and pull it down and let himself out - the trouble was that he liked the door left open to come and go as things spooked him. The minute you got up and shut it he was back in again.

Shut the door.

He opens it to go out.

Shut the door.

He opens it and flies in.

Shut the door.

He opens it .......

What a clever cat, Vivien! Laughing Amazing what they can do when they want to. Was Timmy a "classic" tuxedo cat?

Speaking of beloved critters who've gone to a better place: I once had a delightful black furry kitten called Mouse, who got up to hi jinx when no one else was home. I'd often return to the house to find that my earrings had been scattered all over the house. And socks! Another of her tricks was to take the odd one outside & deposit it in some unlikely place, only to be found months later.
I loved that cat. She was so much fun! Very Happy

Little Patty liked few things better than freshly laundered underwear. She figured out how to open the drawer and get at my drawers. I'd come home to find my underpants in some very unlikely places.
