Possum is a cutie. Not gonna say "bad cat." He's just doing what his genes tell him to do. But I will say, "Fly, boidie, fly--now!"

Awful, awful episode last night! Shocked
I heard some rumbling, callumping, scrambling noises at the back door & went to investigate ... Only to find that Flats had somehow captured either a small rat or a large mouse <shudder> & was attempting to bring it inside, via the cat door. The mouse/rat got away & they were sort of scrambling around, Flatty trying to re-capture it. Revolting! Shocked
So, I quickly shut all doors that could lead into the rest of the house, got a broom & proceeded to bang the floor with gusto as the mouse/rat frantically ran under things to hide. It finally got out but Flats was hyper for the rest of the night, convinced it was still around somewhere. Me, I felt quite shaken by the experience. Awful, awful! Ugh!!!

Ok, I have a question, my cat is just 3 years old. She is an indoor cat as we live near a very busy main road constantly littered with cats who have unfortunately not got out of the way fast enough.

She is usually very good with using her litter tray, which is cleaned after everything she does. Lately she has taken to using the bath or basin as her very own personal litter tray. Everytime she does it, she is picked up, taken to the spot and shown what she's done, nothing is said to her, and then we put her down and walk away. She continues to do it, so the for the last 3 weeks I have filled the bath and basin with an inch of water so she can't do it.

Yesterday I forgot to fill tha bath, and she did it again. I thought she may have got the message by now, but it appears she must 'check out' the status of the bath and basin each day to see if I have forgotten!! Can anyone suggest what I can do to stop her doing this?

I wish I had a useful solution to your problem, Foxy, but sorry, I don't. Perhaps when one of the other folk with indoor only cats arrive you might get some good advice. It must be driving you crazy, though!

Oh, & welcome to the cat room! Very Happy I believe this is your first visit?

Yes this is my first visit to the Cat Room!!

I have one of the little darlings called Ozzy, female 3 yrs old, and another that lives with my Mum, called Thomas, male 10 yrs old. Both gorgeous and mainly well behaved....

....all apart from Ozzy at the moment!

Any chance of a photograph of Ozzy, Foxy?
(Not necessarily doing bad deeds!)

oh dear msolga! bad Flatty!

Timmy once came in with a young rat he'd caught, came into the kitchen with it and when I shouted he dropped it - trying to look innocent

'what rat?... me hunting? no way....'

it ran behind the fridge and as fast as we pulled stuff out it ran behind something else.

He spent 2 days locked in that kitchen and not allowed out until he caught it again!

Paddy came bouncing over us in the middle of the night (which the little swine often does if he's in) and sat next to me while I stroked him and he purred Shocked that's usually reserved for himself - and then he lay down against me Shocked - the bouncing about and purring was actually 'get up and let me OUT' - I have no illusions, the little monster! but he never normally cuddles up to me ... just himself

He has this very endearing habit of sitting blinking at you (errm when he isn't dashing past as he's other fish to fry) and he's so sooty black he's just a patch of darkness with these little round eyes switching off and on.

I know, I know, Vivien! That sort of thing was precisely what was going on here!!!! Shocked I can't believe the irrational state of panic I was in & the sheer sense of exhilaration that Flatty was in! Awful! <shudder>

Vivien, my dear, why do I suspect you've been thoroughly taken in by this outrageous furry black monster's charms? You MUST be strong & resist!Laughing

Oh, she's very pretty, Foxy! Love that bushy tail! Very Happy

I DO hope someone here can come up with a solution to the weeing problem. That's her only "offence", yes? Sad

I'm curious, have you talked about it with your vet? Who knows, s/he might have a theory & possibly even a solution.

I wish it was just that she just weed in the bath, but she it's the other 'stuff' that comes out in the bath I'm afraid!!!

I haven't spoken to the Vet about it, but maybe I will - good thinking - she could probably do with a check up anyway.
