When Virenque wins yellow today, Aldag will wear the polka-dotted jersey tomorrow. Great work!

We'll wait and see.

But it really was a great day - for all of them!

Great race by Richard Virenque, and the first man since Eddy Merckx in 1971 to seize both the yellow and polka dot jerseys in a single day of riding.

Respect for Aldag. 34 years old and 1.91 m(6.2ft) Quite a performance.

No, He wants to win a stage this year. So the overall result doesn't interest him. (his explanation, if he wins a stage everybody will say he was right to do so. We'll see)

Another surprise was the bad performance by Simoni (& Garzelli) . I really thought he was ready to compete with the best.

This proofs the Tour is not comparable with the Giro (and Vuelta,...)

It's hard to drive/win Giro and Tour in one year. Simoni had a really bad day but he is better than what he showed today. Garzellis performance was not that bad. He reached the goal in position five.

Garzelli was not that good on the Col de la Ramaz. He just was lucky there was a long descend after that col and the peloton took it very easy after the Ramaz. I dont think he will be in the top5 on the top of l'Alpe D'Huez.

some news about Merckx
Merckx targets Alpine success

A bit too optimistic, i think.

And what about Fasso Bortolo. They lost 4 man so far(Aitor Gonzalez(winner of the Vuelta), Sven Montgomery, Alessandro Petacchi & Volodymir Gustov)

Let's see, how it looks like in 4 hours (Merx still in the leading group).

Armstrong will be in "yellow" tomorrow, but I wonder, if this will be so in Paris as well.

Ulrich was better than I thaught!

frolic, what do you think of Beloki today, he was definitely stronger in comparison to Armstrong than in the last few years. Ulrich did perform quite well but I expected him to be stronger.

This race was definitely one of the most exciting races I saw in the last years with an outstanding Iban Mayo as winner.

Ulrich said in a tv-interview that he hadn't felt good the last three days and was glad, he did so good as he did.

Fully agree on MOST EXCITNG RACE OF THE LAST YEARS!

Regarding that Aldag lives just 12 km from me, the local "Beckumer Berge" ('Beckum mountains') there reach the immense heigh of 120 m, you should be excellent for - at least one day - doing the Alps!

Vinokourov's first Tour de France victory.

But I sincerely do hope that nothing serious happened to Beloki, that he will stay in the tour ...

And Armstrong should be disqualified for not sticking to the official route. Razz Razz Razz

Sad news Beloki has to leave the tour.

But what about Tyler Hamilton! He is incredible.

Looking through the papers, it seems to be rather serious with Beloki. But obviously no-one definately knows how this happenedhttp://www.lequipe.fr/Xml/Cyclisme/Titres/Media/1407_accident.jpg

It was a really ugly fall. Belokis' left femoral is broken.

You can see a video of the fall at: www.eurosport.com
