Two things that came to my attention:
Aussies rule: Already this year McGee and Cooke have taken a stage win apiece, while McGee also boasts the race leader's yellow jersey and McEwen has the green jersey on his shoulders.
Tyler Hamilton is a madman: He drives on with a broken collarbone. His pain barrier must be very high, if he has one in the first place.
Pena, for first time a Colombian in yellow in the 100 year history of the Tour.
It looks like Lance has begun to assert himslef!
It seems like, after the counterclock, the field is settled for Armstrong.
As an exception, this is an American I would really like to see win. His endurance, and his capacity to overcome the worst make him exemplary.
Too bad most Americans don't notice as they should.
Dang, the wife is the Tour de France lover here....I am not sure who she is cheering on this year, but I do know that she is tired of seeing Armstrong win. I don't know why, I think she just wants to see one of the underdogs win for once.
Watch out for Der Ullrich! He is sharp and eager to win. It hope for a heroic batlle like we saw between Greg Lemond and a Laurent Fignon. Those were the days.
Watch out for Joseba Beloki!
btw. who is "Der Ulrich"?
Happy Birthday and way to go Victor!

Der Ulrich is Jan Ulrich. Der=the. Nevermind.

BTW, Beloki is a top 10 cycler, but i give him not much chance to win.
Beloki is a top 3 cycler(his results in the last years: 2000: 4th, 2001: 3rd, 2002: 2nd, 2003: 2nd) and I think he might perform even better than the last years.
Speaking of the Tour De France, and i hope i am not insulting anyone by asking this question, what ever happened to the "Coors Challenge" or what ever it was called. I can remember standing on the side of the road for a few stages of the American bicycle race. I know it has not been around for a while but it was one of the reasons i started riding my bike at the time alot. It brought the sport closer to home where i could see it and it gave me some of my dreams.
Go Armstrong!!!
hmmmmmm. The only Coors Challenge I know about is the equestrian one. It will be held in Ft. Worth September 12-14 at the Will Rodgers Equestrian Center.

But time doesn't stand still. Jan Ulrich is back at his best level and Simoni made the Tour one of his major goals. There is again much more competition.
Just one day left tomorrow for the sprinters.
A lot will change in the Alps and later!
blu:
I believe you may be speaking of the old "Tour De Trump", later the "Tour Du Pont".
Petacchi, again!!! Grrr and i've put my money on Robbie McEwen.
frolic, of course there is more competition now - and this is good so - but Ulrich is a dark horse. I don't know if he is that strong in the mountains and his colleagues aren't very strong in the mountains too.
Simoni is a great climber but he has some problems with time trials. After team time trial he is already 3 minutes back, therefor I don't think he has great chances to win the tour.
But we shall see who is the strongest when they reach L'Alpe d'Huez.
Petacchi is unbeatable, forget McEwen... ;-)
