What's up guys? I'm just curious...

How do you think the nature of Euroamerican Interactions with Native Amercians changed from the 17th century to the mid-19th century? What would you argue was the primary reason for this change? Do agree with my argument that this interaction formed the basis for an emerging American Identity?????..., Why?....

Well..., im waiting..

Thanks,

Jonny Mentero...

In the mid-17th century, the European colonists in America were weak and needed the Native Americans, and so courted them as they would any foreign power that could do them some good. In the 19th century, they were strong, self-sufficient, and not threatended by colonization efforts by European powers, so they didn't need help from the Native Americans, and treated them considerably less well.

Why would you ask this question otherwise?

And the other one you asked regarding Native Americans?

Just pondering Native American history?

Seems awfully suspicious to me.

I think it has more to do with how the vocabulary of describing war
affects the prosecution of war. Note that the title is taken from William
Hubbard who argued against calling "King Phillip's War" a war at all. In
his opinion those events ''no more deserve the Name of a War than the
Report of them the Title of an History.''

George...

I am kind of confused..., So you're saying that King Philips war was not a war? Was'nt that war what determined the drastic change in which the euromericans treated the Natives? Like 1st they needed the natives so they came in an as humble people and then after they didn't need them anymore so they caused this war to commit genocide with the indians...

Help me george.., im confused... thanks

No, I'm saying that William Hubbard thought the conflict so full
of ''barbarous inhumane Outrages'' that it was not worthy of being called
a war. In other words, calling it a war would be giving it more dignity
than it deserved. Words are important. Think of the use of "civil
war", "terrorist", "insurgent" in relation to Iraq.
