That's a good idea from DadPad. Never know what little bit of education will help in the future. Anyway, it's better to be out doing things, and meeting people than waiting on the plant to rehire.

My job feels a bit more shaky than usual, but so far, so good.

I like the education thing myself, but I expect only to be laid off for a few months and if I really had the drive to go that route, unemployment here has a program where you can collect your unemployment for 2 years if you decided to go to schoool, so that's an option if my lay off happens to be permanent.

Did I ever thank you for the Christmas card, Roger? I've been in a bit of a fog these days Embarrassed

So...help me here. Was Frenchy laid off too, or is he still there and lobbying management for your return?

No, Frenchy didn't get laid off and he was just as surprised about the lay off as anyone was. I guess it was a spur of the moment thing for them.
He told me that if he knew, he would have told me.
He gave me a bunch of suggestions and told me to visit often, so they know I want to come back.
Since he's the only one around there that gives me strait answers, I think I'll be visiting him instead of the people upstairs.
He is pretty ticked off that they laid me off and kept some others that don't do f@ck all and I'm not very happy about that myself.
They laid of 30 of us and I know that had no choice, so I know it's nothing personal.

Frenchy is a very determined man who isn't afraid to fight for what he thinks is right, so he was going in friday (his day off) to talk with them about it, so maybe he'll have some news for me tonight.
I have another 2 weeks before I'm off, so who knows what'll happen.

I do know that he'll fight to get me back in, if he has to :-D

The world's turned upside down. Around here, if you're a full time student, that proves you aren't really looking for work, and you are disqualified.

Montana, think of it as an extended vacation. Maybe you can spend some extra time with the French guy......

Actually, since he told me to visit often, it'll give me a chance to talk more with him ;-)
I'll be going in every week with my steel toes, safety glasses, ear plugs and my lunch and we're going to do a lot of talking :-D

Thanks so much, everyone! It's been 2 weeks that I've been home and I've been getting a lot of stuff done around the house. I colored my hair again with another temporary color and I liked the other one better. As much as I try to get rid if the red in my hair, it's hopeless. I've also done lots of research on hair color and it looks like red is in and it goes with hazel eyes (my eyes), so when this color washes out, I'm going with a red next time around. That should be interesting. Anyway, I'm gonna try to have fun with it while I'm off from work.
I've also been dowloading lots of music because I just love music :-D
Then there's the cleaning we all love to do. Getting my Spring cleaning done early this year :-D

So, what are you guys up to?

I'm planning some garden chores... planning, mostly not yet doing. Very Happy Ahem, I've decided to start composting again -- my bit to save the world and I'm thinking about setting up a couple of long garden beds for some vegetables and herbs. My sister wants me to grow sunflowers and brighten up the neighborhood.

So Canada has pretty good unemployment security? And they might pay you while you're re-training? This could be a good thing, y'know, even if you go back to the old job.

My job actually offers lots of training, which I plan on taking advantage of, if I ever get back in there.
I've also done the research on the training programs offered by EI and that's an option as well.
Since I'm only interested in working the night shift, that does leave my options limited to what I can do, but where there's a will, there's a way.

I'm all into my gardening plans as well. I haven't been able to do it the last two years because of my hectic work hours, but I'll have plenty of time from here on.
Every day I look at where my garden is and I dream of the day the snow melts and I can get my hands dirty Laughing
It's been 2 years without a garden and I'm primed this year :-D

Have a blast with your garden, Piffka :-D

Nope, still laid off and pissed enough to where I don't intend on going back there.
I've decided to go back to school, but not right away. I'm doing tons of remodeling in my house the past few months and it's the last chance (I think) that I'll have to do it.
I'm doing the whole house from ceiling to floor and this place is gonna be beautiful when I'm done.

After I go to school for as long as they'll let me, I'll do whatever floats my boat at that time.

I'm gonna see if they'll let me go to log home building school :-D
