... MAY BE CLOSER TO MEN'S THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio - A new study suggests that men and women might not be as far apart in sexual behaviors as previous research has shown.

In many surveys, men typically report engaging in sex at earlier age, more often, and with more sexual partners than do women. However, a new study shows that some reported gender differences might show up because women don't always answer surveys honestly, but give answers they believe are expected of them.

Could it be, instead, that men don't always tell the truth and at times, would rather brag about events, which they wish had taken place, but which never did?

You can start a new research on this, New Haven!

But:

Women's answers were closer to men's in some areas of sexual behavior when they thought lies could be detected. Men's answers didn't change as much as did women's under different testing conditions

I don't know about young folks, but years ago, it was considered unseemly for women to have many sexual partners. Many did, but just would not talk about it!

As they are both of the same species (belive it or not) I would suspect their sexual behavior would be similar. Most differences are cultural, (ie what is expected of you) and I doubt that these surveys are sufficiently subtle or sophisticated to distinguish between what is biologically based and what is cultural in this kind of activity.

A couple of poll data in Mexico's 3 major cities, from the early nineties.

The average Mexican male has had sex with 1.5 virgins.
This means that either the average Mexican male brags or that aproximately in one third of the encounters he was lied to by the average Mexican female.

The most common answer by a Mexican single hetero woman about how many sexual partners she has had in her life is 2. The average is little over 3.
The most common answer by a Mexican single hetero man about how many (non prostitute) sexual partners he has had in his life is 10. The average is a little over 12.
Here again, chances are: one sex is bragging; the other wants to appear "respectable".
