Well, if the squirrel wants to go to California, we'd take it illegally
across the border
So, I suppose, the squirrel is by now on its way to Australia?
(The question is, who gets finally my address?)

It might be fun for all participants, but Rocky Squirrel might not be thrilled about being mailed all over the world. How comfortable and safe would he be in a box? Is all this fun humane?

It is a toy.

I think she knows.
Just sent Sozobe a PM, then noticed that she doesn't want PMs anymore. Anyway, I'm interested.
I thought this was an old thread revisited.
I swear we've done this before... or am I losing my mind?
Didn't we do this before?
(please say yes.)

Well, someone has to stand up for toy squirrels. Toy squirrels of the world, unite!

Maybe you're thinking of Twinkies for SealPoet's mom, Squinney.
Tulsa isn't as exotic a destination as those mentioned here, but I'll be glad to help if I can.
SonofEva's 5th grade class did this a couple of years ago. (Wish I'd thought of using A2K then!) Each student sent off a different stuffed toy, and they mapped all the points the toys reached when they came back in April. The farthest distance was China.
My son's monkey, Mike, made it to deb's hometown in Australia and Singapore, as well as London, Vancouver, the Black Hills of South Dakota and several other interesting destinations. We have his travel journal with souvenirs from all those places and pictures of Mike at lighthouses, music festivals, Mt. Rushmore, etc.
Definitely a cool project!
Eva's son's monkey returned with souvenirs from all those places . Sic!!!
Just simple things, Walter. A few coins from other countries, a program from a music festival in Australia, a refrigerator magnet from Singapore, a ticket stub from a soccer match in London, a foreign stamp or two, etc. Nobody went to much trouble or expense. But in total, it was fascinating.
Rocky is launched!
On his way to dadpad. He definitely didn't fit in the small flat-rate envelope, and the fit in the large (cardboard) flat-rate envelope was awkward; the post office person and I worried about the whole thing bursting (not enough overlap for a good seal). However, he was lighter than I realized, and at 8.10 oz in a larger fabric-y envelope (you know the ones I mean?), it only cost about $11 at the variable weight rate. Not too bad. Hopefully further postage will be much less.
This'll be fun! :-)
Probably not right away, but I'd really like to follow up on the interest of everyone else and do something for sozlet. I'm interviewing her stuffed animals now. (Qualifications -- small, personable, intrepid.)

Have you considered the
Amélie variant? The stuffed animal "disappears", "nobody knows" where it is. Then, week after week, postcards come in from distant places, where the animal writes to Sozlet about how beautiful the weather is in Tokyo etc....
Ooooh, that sounds great!
I still haven't seen Amelie, it's been highly recommended, will see it sometime.
By the way, supposed to be 4-6 business days until Rocky arrives, dadpad. We'll see.

No, it was a stuffed animal for a class, just like sozobe is doing. It was a couple of years ago, but I don't think it was far enough back to be Abuzz. I could of sworn it was a squirrel, too.
Hmm. Maybe I'm just psychic?
I think there was something about garden gnomes, like a link to a blog or something; I think "Amelie" took that idea from something pre-existing.
But squirrel, I don't think so.
I vote for psychic.
That's funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing when I first saw this thread, Squinney-- squirrel and everything.
See! See everyone!!!
I'm not psychotic!
Oh ho ho, because me thinking the same thing means it must be true? That's a good one!
I was thinking more along the lines of now we can be crazy together...
