Would anyone like to host a small stuffed squirrel?

It might be quicker from Vienna to Budapest and then to Great Britain.
Just a thought.

Yeap - I suppose the same. (Could be back by early March in the USA, if not touring longer through Europe.)

I'll volunteer for Austin. Perhaps we can Xerox the booklet page?

Wow, this is taking off way faster than I expected. I thought like maybe one or two people... 11 already!

I like the Xerox idea, sure, why not. The only limitation is making sure everyone has time to get the squirrel, photograph the squirrel, get the film developed/ make a print, fill out the questionnaire, package the squirrel back up, and send him on his way. About 11 weeks until April 5th. If we give a week for each page, that's 8 weeks. And 3 weeks for padding/ delays, that sounds about right.

So let's have it be:

1.) Me (Columbus)
2.) Walter (Germany)
3.) Ul (Vienna)
4.) nimh (Budapest)
5.) Smorgs (Manchester)
6.) Dys/ Osso(Albuquerque)
7.) Roger (Farmington)
8.) Shewolf/ DrewDad (Austin)
9.) ?

If nobody else volunteers, or if someone who has already volunteered can't do it when the time comes, will split up the Albuquerque or Austin contingents to fill it out.

Thanks again!

What about sending a companion stuffed animal for the squirrel? I bet I could find a stuffed lobster (plush, not broiled in butter) around here to keep it company or sit in Columbus and pine silently for the squirrel's return.

I'd thought to give her our brown squirrel as new friend - the squirrel and I would be pleased, not Mrs Walter

(So our squirrel stays here, will just show the American grey cousin a bit of the place.)

yep - we don't have squirrels here - so he'd be a novelty.

He could see dadpad's bushfires and my Harbour Bridge

Okay, I'm sorry, but you know someone had to say it.
Anyway, I'd love to participate if Rocky wants to see Redwoods! (If he has room on the itinerary.)

Hee hee... yes, it had to be said.

Man, I'd love to send him to Australia! That'd be so so cool. Maybe between the European tour and the American tour?

I haven't actually sent him yet even though he's all packaged up (planned to yesterday, didn't have time), since it's likely the biggest financial bite maybe I should send him to Australia first, then dadpad can send him to Walter and go from there?

Aussies, have you ever shipped stuff to/ from America and/or Europe? Any estimates? (I can look around online.)

P.S. Rocky actually looks a lot like the pic you posted, Walter. Brown with a white tummy.

It's not only a pic but a really living stuffed squirrel! (Which gets more and more excited to meet his cousin - as due a dozen other stuffed animals [all handmade by SIS])

Small parcels/big letters (= packed cd's) last between 8 days and four weeks from New Zealand to Germany, by airmail.

Generally, I really think that to be a good idea: Australia, Europe and then back.

It only would be a shame, if the whole project would be down due to long posting times.

If the squirrel's got the time, I've got plenty of room for a guest - 'specially one that won't stay long, hit the liquor, or eat anything.

I think I'm gonna go for it. We can keep track here, and if it's taking too long, we can cut things short and I'll shepherd him to various Columbus locations/ communities to fill out the rest of the booklet.

To Australia and beyond...!

OK so it's now:

1.) Me (Columbus)
2.) dadpad (Australia)
3.) Walter (Germany)
4.) Ul (Vienna)
5.) nimh (Budapest)
6.) smorgs (Manchester)
7.) Dys/ Osso (Albuquerque)
8.) Roger (Farmington)
9.) DrewDad/ Shewolf (Austin).

Lookin' good!

USPS Global Priority to Australia can be as low as $9.00, and deliveries seem to run about a week - I assume Rocky's not a really big squirrel.

He's little. The package I have him in from Amazon was 2 pounds, I'd say it's probably about that, maybe a bit lower. I was just looking on the USPS site too, hadn't seen that though (was wincing a bit at the apparent ~$20 cost, but also seemed to be about the same to Germany).

I suggest, soz does what she likes best - or we discuss here like usually on A2K ... and someone asks the teacher for a new date in June, July or better August
