Would anyone like to host a small stuffed squirrel?

Oh, decision's being made today. That's the nice thing about being in charge. :-)

Right now I plan to send it to dadpad, pending further info. Roger's info looks good, will confirm at the P.O. when I go.

Drat, I'm late. I was going to volunteer to take him in Atlanta, and them send him with hubby to Morocco. Maybe next time. I would love it if the hosts wouldn't mind posting Rocky's pics here, though.

Morocco!

Maybe I'll have to do this over again with sozlet down the line. It's a cool idea, and would be nice to have it be more open-ended.

Pity you are have time constraints.

I am going to Hawaii around June/July and it would have been fun to have had piccie taken with squirrel peeking out of my jumpsuit as I do a tandem sky-dive!

Better use one of the USPS Global Priority envelopes instead of a box if it's crowding 2 pounds. I once shipped a box of Bisquick to a curious Aussie, and it really was that high.

It does sound like a great project for any time and any kid, really. What a great idea!

I suggest, soz does what she likes best - or we discuss here like usually on A2K ... and someone asks the teacher for a new date in June, July or better August

You might be onto something here....

not only would the project be DONE.. but.. if each ofus could " add"something to the box, the entire class can go around the world. Not only with pictures, but with .. maybe.. native tree leaves? Nuts? Stones?

Omigosh Heeven that would be so great!

I'm definitely starting to see Rocky's tour as a trial run, and then do another one ourselves later.

Yep, Roger, I found that too. Flat rates (in envelopes -- dunno if he'd fit into the small or would need a large) look way more reasonable than the variable weight options. (Small envelope is $5.25, large is $9.50, a 1.5 lb box is $13.75 and a 2.0 lb box is $16.75.)

I'll send it to ul, on the fastest way - if I get it early enough that is.

And if we Europeans aren't out totally now

Why do I always have a different opinion?
Why do I always have a different opinion? Sheeeeesh!

It might be fun for all participants, but Rocky Squirrel might not be thrilled about being mailed all over the world. How comfortable and safe would he be in a box? Is all this fun humane?

I really don't think you will be. That's what I want to confirm at the P.O., though. If they say there is a realistic chance of up to 4 week delays, I won't do it. From the info on the website, Global Priority mail looks very promising.

I thought of adding something to the squrirrel post too, but then thought of how big and heavy the box would become.
What do you think of postal stamps?
Or sending the extras to you sozobe directly and you add these for the last leg?
To follow the trip - maybe creating a photo blog- done for children with more infos which might be intersting for them?

Well, someone send me recently a big letter from the USA. PO said: one week, Arrived here after 16 days. (United Parcel)

That's a good average - my cd's from New Orleans arrive here (airmail, US post/Germnad Post [DHL]) between one week and four weeks.

As said, it seems - by my experiences - that the other way (from here to USA) is quicker.

From my experience, ( 3-5 times in one year) sending TO the UK , Germany, and Spain took over 2 weeks.

Then I've been extremely lucky. Seven days max to Australia's east coast.

Boy this sounds like fun! Iowa's not a very exotic location for squirrels, though.

Sisterhood of the travelling squirrel!

This is a good suggestion. Each can then choose what he sends and how much he pays.

It may contravene customs/environmental laws to send some plant and animal products.

What do squirells eat? The poor lil fella will be hungry when he gets here.

A blog would be good. The kids could watch and see where Rocky turns up next. Need to be controlled by one person. Each person rocky visits would email photos and story to central point who uploads to the blog.

My daughter did a similar thing for a gnome when on her student exchange.

I'd love to do it Soz, but it would likely take weeks to get the squirrel here and back.
