Builder, it sounds to me like you are jealous
I'll take jealousy (although I don't believe that Builder is jealous) over what this Merry Andrew said.
I am always happy to see someone that is proud of their own country & believe that it is the best of what there is, what angers me is when people that don't live here, know very little about it, knocks it, even more are those living here & still blasts this country. It's like they can't seperate their own hate of certain political parties from the country as a whole, which, IMO, is absolutely stupid, I say stupid because it's way past the ignorant stage.

Please don't bitch-slap this thread people.

The poll is moving, and I'm still waiting to vote.

It's a personal thing. I rarely vote in polls I start.

I'm happy and thankful to be in the US, but I can't say as how I'm proud per se. It was a lucky accident of birth that I'm here.

The proudest folks should be those that have earned their citizenship.

There's a button under the poll with two words on it. (View Results)

Is that only visible to the poll creator? Question

I don't hate Americans. I accept the reality of diversity in such a number of people.

What I do hate is blind support for an inane leader, and patriotic rubbish based on a waving sheet of fabric.

Get some reality happening. In this "enlightened" age, everything that happens is public knowledge within the hour.

TTH, can you tell my why you are PROUD to be American?

Obviously, I am not American born, but like to live here and have
become a citizen a long time ago, however, all the achievements
I enjoy are created by myself, not the government or our president.

If you'd say, you're a proud American, I could understand that,
but proud to be an American, I ask myself why?

Very likely. I, however, have never noticed it when I have created polls.

Probably goes to show something or other.

I think pride based on what piece of arbitrarily bordered piece of dirt you happen to be whelped on is so idiotic as to be laughable.

Not possible. You have to be at least 35 years of age to run for the Presidency. Smile

I am proud because I love this country and I learned as much as possible about our forefathers. I am proud my father served in WWII and was shot twice. I am proud I went to Washington DC and saw what most people do not bother. I am proud that people died to give me the rights that I have. I am proud to have walked the battlefields back east and to have sat on George Washington's porch. I am proud that we the people are allowed to see our original constitution, our flag and go into the people's house. I am proud someone cared enough to preserve this for me to see. I am proud for the right to vote and be heard. I am proud at the achievements that our country has made in such a short time. I am proud after visiting other countries to come back and be in the one place I will always call home which is the USA. I am proud we finally got a President with a back bone and did what he said he would. I am proud at the chance I get to be able to make a difference in this country. I am proud I can be proactive rather than reactive. I am sorry I won't be able to read your response because something came up and I will be leaving the site for awhile. I wish you all the best.

Oh I don't hate you, tth.

I wonder a bit, though ....

I just wish you'd think just a little more about the implications of what your beloved president has done to the rest of the planet. I think other, less significant places, count too? There is human existence outside the US of A, ya know!

Although I haven't voted as yet, the tally is interesting to see.

Would you agree?
