If there Is A Draft....

Should women be drafted as well?
I believe they should be, & not only drafted, but put on front lines. Women want equal treatment, & should have that, soooo, lets have equal treatment.

The Canadians don't have conscription, but they are heavily engaged in Afghanistan, where Captain Nichola Goddard became the first Canadian woman killed in combat.

I started a thread about women in combat occasioned by the news of Captain Goddard's death, but it didn't get that much play.

Yes, I think it's only fair. And is part of why I'm against the draft. (I have one daughter, in kindergarten.)

This article at the Washington Post dated May, 2005, discussed American women in Iraq.

As the shooting war got underway, I ranted against it to my boss. She staunchly avowed she would readily saceifice her son over there. "They are taking women," I said. She seemed not to hear me.

As long as the women in question aren't gay, I am all for it.

Odds are that we would have to agree on something, sometime. Smile
My husband is a Vietnam vet, we saw men have to go twice because the next in line was a woman. While I know there were women killed in Vietnam, that wasn't the norm. My aunt was an army nurse that served in Korea on the 38th parallell. I want an all out draft of women as well as men, no exceptions, if there is one. Women make up 52% of our population.

Your boss is a ready to sacrifice her son, but turns a deaf ear when it comes to herself....pathetic.

"No exceptions" is what I go with, sick &/or infirm, excepted, of course, & when I say sick, I don't mean sniffles or bed wetting.

Slavery is slavery, whether it is applied to some or all citizens. IMO, conscription is evil and unconscionable.

Ah kant hep mah ownsef when it comes to bubba. Embarrassed Cool

No wars would be even better, but that won't happen. I don't know how I feel about the draft, just saying if there is one, then one size should fit all.

except for bush and company. them I'd like to see in the desert at 140 degrees with full packs in the midst of combat. Might make 'em think. but I doubt it.

I don't care if the government gave draftees a million bucks a year. If the person did not join up of his own free will, it is still slavery, or possibly involuntary servitude. I think that you are hung up on the semantics.
