Oh what memories. The last time I visited Neusiedler See we went for a walk along a jut of land close to Rust. It was a wonderful day, all blue sky and cool - but not too cold. Wonderful memories.

Afterwards we stopped in Eisenstadt and visited the museum where we saw the complete living room from Listz - - -

Nice,
from today our Wiener Wald is officially "Biosphere Reserve Wienerwald".Biosphere Reserve

Lizt was a powerful piano player. He often destroyed an istrument during a recital.
Then he found Bösendorfer.

A very sturdy piano made to withstand abuse by Liszt. This is the Model Liszt.

During our 2001 visit to Vienna, Patti and I stayed at a quaint inn just West of Klosterneuburg. We really loved it for it's old world atmosphere and the quietness of it's location - - - And, then - - - the first morning at 6 am there was a very loud bonging of a very loud bell right outside our bedroom window........ Shocked It was a very active church. After a few days we were used to it and developed an affection for it - we still joke about the adventure. Very Happy

For ehBeth

Slowly, very slowly we are getting reading for the Christmas Season.
Are there "migrating" cookie/sweets recipes?
I am planning an "International Sweets Festival" during Advent with the kids and their parents.
Learning about different cultures and so.

Sweets A?

A sweet southern USA dish is = bake sweet potatoes and after they are cool in frig- cut into rounds about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Pan fry these in buttered bacon grease until crispy brown. Serve hot or cool. They are great little fat pills either way - Shocked Very Happy

Migrating cookie recipes?

hmmmmmmm

Will have to think on that - maybe something like sugar pie -> butter tarts -> pecan pie? What would the English or French original of those be?

~~~~~~
I did learn something interesting about migrating recipes yesterday. A poster at a food forum I go to was looking for information of Chislik - a specialty in South Dakota. We were all a bit puzzled, then one of the food gurus mentioned Shashlik - found in some Russian communities.
I poked around a bit, and discovered that quite a bit of South Dakota was settled by ethnic Russians who'd come to South Dakota by way of Germany.
Shashlik does seem to have migrated to Chislik.
Howdy wildclickers!
ehBeth, cute avatar! jingle jangle Smile
ul, you must have a classroom of happy kids! Very Happy
Purchased deer food for the herd, placed the pellets in one of my horses stall grain containers, and now the babies can feed right next to the adults without missing a beat!
Also yesterday, there big as life, was the male! Dang! I'd seen him grazing from one of the meadows, but never just a few feet from the house! The cats said 'eek' and ran indoors, and i just stood at the window watching the animal with amazement. Beautiful! Red coat, five pointer, muley-with-attitude, he stood by the rosabanks in all his deerness. Damn, what a pretty sight.
Today the weathers mild, sunny skies, and the deer can be heard scrunching dry leafs when walking past the porch. Photos scarce though, the newest arrivals arn't accustomed to my sayinig "hi" for photo ops yet.
Reminder ya all. Please keep the hummingbird and bird feeders replenished. Even though winters almost here, the little critters rely on the food we provide during the Spring and summer months as well.
Some of the little critters have a bit of a late start migrating.
Hi Stradee, It must be the time of year - I had a deer herd in my front yard today. Didn't see the buck though - they are usually more timid that the does.
all clicked..........
Calling all Wildclickers, calling all Wildclickers - - - We are slipping with the daily number of clicks. Down about 2/3 ds this week - thats only one in three of our old clicks. Shocked
