An interesting 48 hours for the U.S. and all of us who are impacted by decisions made by the U.S. government.

Looks like you'll have the closest thing to a minority government you can get - hope that means there really will be checks and balances - and balanced decision-making.

I'm sitting here surrounded by small dogs and clicking.

One of my colleagues had a bit of cabin fever and needed to get away for a few days so I volunteered to pick up Vegas and Chilly and bring them home to spend the weekend with Bailey and Cleo. A little bit of low-level muttering but everybody's all right.

Well almost. Vegas cut his paw on some glass a couple of hours before I picked him up - and Chilly threw up from excitement when I got there - and Bailey has a bump over his eye from when he fell off the back of the sofa the other day while napping.

But nothing bad resulting from a mini-pack of four.

Click click pat pat click.

ehBeth, I just rewatched the movie "Friday Night Lights" and it sounds like you are experiencing some of the same action.

The term "Takes a licking" sound familiar??

11/11

traditionally:
Saint Martin of Tours-
to honor this saint kids walk through the towns with lanterns. Then they will be given sweet yeast breads- here mostly large Kipferl, in my hometown they were shaped like a man. This sweet treat has to be shared with another person.
A goose- Martini Ganserl- will be served for dinner.

The new wine is ready and the cellars are opened to "baptise" the new wine and you can taste this year's Heurigen for the first time.

And carnival/Fasching started too at 11:11am.

ul, that all sounds exciting. Ah, the new wine at the heurigers........mmmm. and, all the treats........mmmmm. And, the partys ...........ahhhhh. You are just having toooooo much fun for one person.

I bet it is very cold where you are, ehBeth. Reminds me of some winters in Alaska. Brrrrrr, but, fun - because we always dressed right - and it was usually around -20 to -40F and actually felt comfortable because there was no moisture in the air. Below those temps you could feel every degree of temp as it became colder.

de nada, Merry Andrew, here ya go padna......=

"There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee."

Merry, and I thank you. I have three books by Robert Service = 'The Spell of the Yukon and other verses' - 'The Shooting of Dan McGrew' and 'The Complete Poems of Robert Service'
I just noticed I must move two of the books to my 'older than 100 yrs shelf' this year.

Very Happy

You're in luck, MA - it's in the book with pictures. Here's the first lines =

"A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the
Malmute Saloon;
The kid that handles the music-box was hitting a
jag-time tune;
Back of the bar, in a solo game, sat Dangerous Dan
McGrew,
And watching his luck was his light-o-love, the lady
that's known as Lou."

Here is a photo of the famous shooting =

LOL, Danon. You don't know how that fits. Last week I had two dinner parties here-22 people and then 9. It was a lot of fun.
Now I am lazy again and reading about Sam McGee and dreaming about next year's trip. This time starting from San Diego.
