Face it, some of us can have the occasional fascination with train wrecks..

The ignore button would be to protect us from that fascination.. ;-)

It wouldn't be, it is! Have you checked out Old Europe's Firefox extension? It's marvelous! No more train wrecks.

True, Thomas, as long as those using the ignore button don't fill up the thread with "I'm ignoring you" responses that are simply that much more pollution for those without such a tool. I love the concept and I'm glad that OE has given folks an ignore button, but I hope those who use it to ignore someone actually ignore that person (or respond on point).

"thomas" is a theory, not a fact, regarding a "person" behind an A2K account. This account should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered.

Wouldnt it save a lot of moderating time if, once a poster is banned, he is taken down too as soon as he appears under a new name?

The site's culture is moving away from banning (more indefinite) toward suspensions (which will eventually have technology-driven time controls).

To be honest, the best procedural/technical tool for this kind of situation is the ignore feature that is coming in the next a2k.

Don't feed the trolls. We'll make it easier by allowing users to ignore users across the site in one action.

The good news with an ignore button is you don't have to read the same poster repeating over and over...

"I win because you didn't respond."

I doubt very much that I will ever use the ignore button.
