True dat. I was just baffled when I saw Foxfyre praising him. Can you imagine Soz or Edgar praising, say, freedom4free?

I was googling around, trying to find out if you'd posted (anywhere) your personal voting preferences (based on finn's question) - found that and went "that'll fit in somewhere/someday" Cool .

nimh, you've got fans all over the place <grin>

I sincerely doubt that got Herbert banned. but who knows.

On Thomas' point, I try, I try, I try, to do what he said, especially once I catch on.

I agree with Thomas. In fact months ago (don't recall when or where) I made the recommendation that we "good guys" simply SHUN the trolls. By simply ignoring them we can procede as if they were non-existent.

Say, could THAT be why people rarely respond to my comments?

Most of the members do not hate you, blacksmithn, but they do look upon you with a certain sense of disdain.

Gus is, for many of us, our hero and our muse.

Well, for some of us.

A few anyway...

Okay, so he's got a small, deeply deranged cult of followers.

But all the barnyard animals just love him!

And vice versa.

Any of you old psych majors remember learning about intermittent reinforcement? The point is that a behavior is reinforced more strongly when the responce is sporadic, than if it is responded to consistently.

In other words, if you want this behavior to stop, NEVER respond to it. Sometimes responding to it, will make the behavior continue more strongly than if you always respond to it.

If you want a good example of this phenomenon, think "slot machines". Very Happy

Quote:
The interesting thing that Skinner discovered about intermittant reinforcement and maybe one of Skinner's most important discoveries was that behavior that is reinforced intermittantly is much more difficult to extinguish than behavior that is reinforced continuously.
