The folks at IBM probably wouldn't agree with that statement.

Mathos commented on what 'Merican ladies are like--but Jane is German, so her characteristics aren't necessarily those of 'Merican ladies.

Set,

Your not on the bloody ID thread now with Spendi! We don't go in for all the fancy rigmarole of crossing the t's and dotting the i's unless its work or money. Stay as long as you want mate, but don't be so bloody minded and pedantic, it becomes a pain in the arse.

No doubt . . . But if i read correctly the comments of the rest of you in Merry Old, no one outside Manchester puts any credence in what the Mancunians say . . .

I'll bet IBM made a lot more money out of computers than anyone in Manchester . . .

I don't give a toss what IBM think - bring 'em on!

I stand by my statement - The British DID invent the modern computer, at U.M.I.S.T.

Thanks, but you wouldn't know how to make a decent cuppa unless you were from Manchester.

I'm going to bed now...

Night everyone

Well- I have missed some fun haven't I?

But just to set the record straight I did not try to drive Cal off the thread. We used to be good mates Cal and I.

I was simply pointing out that the style, the "vivacious wit" I think I called it, in the exchange between Gus and Cal was much too sophisticated and modern for us Brits and that they should try to come down to our level or have their conversation on a thread where it would be more readily appreciated.

That is nothing like trying to drive Cal off the thread which I wouldn't wish to do under any circumstances and especially not now that she has hinted that I might be allowed to kiss her ass.
