As for you pontificating as usual Spendi, (you gormless bloody egotistical cross eyed oink) You are the one who had a post removed by the A2K Police for disgusting filthy unwarranted language!

Button it mate, or I'll find you and change the way you look!

Sometimes I think my adolescent daughters are more mature than some of the supposed adults on A2K. Sad, really.

I'll have to check on this but I'm fairly sure threatening to re arrange someone's physical appearance, and by the sound of it not necessarily to their benefit, is against the Terms of Service..wait a mo..yup...you're bang out of order there mate.

I hope that wasn't addressed to me, JPB. I REALLY tried to restrain myself as far as that little pipsqueak was concerned.

I now understand that a PM was sent to Spendy, asking him to apologize.

I wish I had been consulted on that, as the last thing I wanted was for this nightmare of a thread to be in any way resurrected.

Now...I don't know whether this thread was unlocked so that this could take place (I genuinely have no idea whether this is so) ...but if it WAS the case.......

Nice apology, Spendius.

Bye, everyone.

Nice apology, Spendius.

Bye, everyone.

It wasn't sent to anyone specifically, just my overall observation on how adults on these boards sometimes interact. If Spendy received a PM, it wasn't from me. I don't know anything about that.

Hang on a minute, Mathos threatening to beat the living daylights out of Spendius? (shurley shome mishtake...ed)

A clinical psychologist friend of mine specialises in Multiple Personality Disorder. (Actually he thinks there is no such thing but no matter). However, he would agree its a dangerous thing when one personality threatens the other with violence.

If lord Haw Haw and his co-hort Steve the loo want to make accusations against me, and give me cause for concern, I have the right to preliminary deny their meanderings. Should they continue, as they have, then they will be feeling my wrath, if they want it on a face value, 'get it on.'

As it is, I feel I am entitled to an apology from both of them.

With regards to Spendi, he is no doubt of mature enough age to stand his own corner and do as he sees fit. I speak for myself.

OK! Here goes...

EVERYONE: The PM was from me. My take on the matter was that spendius should apologise to LE for the remarks he made. I will not reveal anything else of the exchange as it was by PM. Everyone here knows spendy's remarks were out of order and well over the top.

Ellpus: You obviously require more 'open' support from me... So here you have it: In all our conversations over the past two years (nearly three) I have a strong affectionate bond with you, you are kind and compassionate, witty and charming, and a true friend. I know you have been hurt by the things spendy (and mathos) have written about you here, and they were wrong to do so. I did not feel the need to consult you about my PM to spendy as I am a grown woman and an equal member of this Forum. I told spendy that his remarks were uncalled for and I thought he should apologise. Then I PM'd you and asked you if he apologised, would you accept it? I also told you that you were valued on here and I wanted you to continue posting and that I was trying to heal the rift. I don't believe I have done anything wrong.

spendius: I know you were hurt by the lonely remark, and it was cruel! But I must qualify that statement by saying publicly that I thought YOU went too far. Your posts were bullying and humiliating to Ellpus. You SHOULD apologise. You are an articulate and intellegent man, people read your posts with relish. Cyber communities/families reflect real life -we all have quirks and idiocyncrisies and we all adopt and then inhabit our roles here as we would in any community. You are the black sheep, the naughty one, the rebellious one... but always interesting. So why not just say sorry? Then we can all get back to 'normal'. You can't read micro-expressions here... you can't see a cheeky grin, a wink, an arm round the shoulder with a quick squeese... these are the signals we rely on... they say 'I don't mean it!' 'I'm only winding you up, mate' 'you bastard, I'm never talking to you again'.

spendius/mathos debate: I don't know why the pair of you are so aghast at the suggestion that you are 'one'. You DO have similar styles and tone sometimes. And the historic connection between Mathos and Spendius leads people to believe that you are the same person. I'm just a guilty as everyone else in being suspicious about you both, but this suspicion has been around a long time before I made the connection. If you are seperate people then I apologise to you both, here, publicly! If you are the same person; then it is a low thing to do.

Keyboards have been glowing red on here recently... a lot of things have been written that shouldn't have been. There is no reason on cyber earth why we can't heal this and put it back together.

One thing is for sure. It's a British thread alright.

Nobody PMd me asking me to apologise for anything.

I suggest that anyone interested tracks back to post No 2262322 on page 38 where they will see not only an internally inconsistent post but one which amply demonstrates that I have nothing to apologise for. Not only was I smeared with innuendo, which has continued ever since with no attempt to address the substance of my remarks, but the thread itself was criticised in support of Dottie's blurt, as was education itself.

Ellpus has flounced off the thread more times than I'm prepared to count at this stage and each time it has been a false dawn. That ain't British. Nor is getting smorgsy to plead with him not to leave. A prediction was made about the thread going "tits-up" (a misogynist's line of wit) which has also failed to come true.

It was said in that post that smorgsy's thread (her party) "HAS become boring" (capitals for those who can't read). I was accused of "nastiness" in my mild and friendly reply to Dottie's blurt. The thread was asserted to have been "ticking over quite nicely" before I came on the scene (I was invited as I have explained) as if "ticking over quite nicely" is not the very epitome of boring.

It's a bit livlier now thanks to Dottie and the invitation I got.

Lively parties are British to the core. They get rid of contactless sociability and a good thing too. smorgsy isn't the vicar's wife.

Read the thread folks.

I wasn't hurt in the least. I'm uninsultable. I don't give a damn if Ellpus thinks I'm lonely. I even explained that I am proud to be.

It was simply not a nice thing to say at your party and neither was Dottie's unseemly blurt. I would have took the same line had either been said about anyone. It was the saying of such an ignorant and gratuitous thing upon no provocation that I took exception to. They lowered the tone which neither party had any respect for anyway.

Why come to your party to say such things.

The only thing I'm sorry for is the way my remarks have been read.

DP did not lower the tone, and did not direct the boring comment to you...

She just said it was getting boring (and it was) she meant no harm by it, she can say it's boring if she wants to. She would just expect (and accept) any sarky reply back at her sarky comment. DP can hold her own.

Is it any wonder Britain has managed to march itself from global center stage into the dim recesses of history's footnotes?
