While the cat's away, the mice can play, eh Walter? I am anti-supervision on the whole!

I'm going to take my Dad's dog for a walk now, going to Style woods, scene of many flashings over the years, but it's winter, so I'll take my chances, besides I know Karate!

Well bloody hell, it's working.

A bit wet for a walk in Styal Woods, or anywhere I'd have thought, Smorgie. Rolling Eyes

I sincerely hope Mac that, as a man who mends fences, dines in eateries which radiate images of your honorific position in society, junkets with fabulous females in Mumbai and thrashes up and down the motorways at regular intervals, occasionally successfully, that you are not fully appraised of the deeper intellectual significance of your remark.

Spenders old bean, I haven't had a decent junket in yonks.

That is generally considered somewhat too humble in circles where sophisticated ladies gather. Such ladies are very punctilious concerning detailed and disciplined supervision as well they might be.

Do you have some Wham recordings or do you prefer Take That.

URGENT APPEAL FOR RE-HOMING MY DAD'S CANARIES:

I don't want anyone to go to any trouble researching, and there's no point in posting this generally.

Does any BT'ers keep, or know anyone who keeps Canaries? I need to re-home 12 of them urgently, I'm aware that I could phone the RSPCA, but I thought I would try to do it privately first.

I don't know what kind they are, or the sexes, my Dad holds all that knowledge...

The outside aviary has been damaged in the storm, they are safe and being fed and watered (by my elderly Mum) but I need to find a home for them urgently.

If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful, even if it's far away, I could arrange to bring them, or meet someone half-way.

Sarah

There is a superstition which says that a lady who wears a man's hat is expressing a desire to be kissed.

Presumably if it's a trilby an English kiss but a sombrero signifies south of the border style.

Hope you find a home for those canaries, Smorgs, but remember
I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS

A free bird leaps on the back of the wind
and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange suns rays and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.

I missed this one, Walter!

It's a tad hypocritical don't you think?

How many times have you admonished me on these threads?

Answer: loads of times! Especially in the early days. You are the E.O. of the Smorgs Supervising Association, and sassy is an affiliate member...

MEN! Honestly! Tut!

(smorgs storms off in a feminist huff)

No, I mixed up two songs, both sung to the same tune:

Aye-aye, aye aye
Charlton is better than Pele
Cause Pele is a no-good bum
And so is Eusebio"

You can tell it's been a while since I learned any football songs.
Can't remember the other song, by the way.

Well done Arsenal today, they just deserved that, a very good hard-fought victory.
