No-one and no law expects that a policeman acts when he notices a misdemeanour. And in fact, someone doing such would have some difficulties working with his colleagues.
And I can understand why. But that's --- AGAIN -- not relevant to this particular matter, since the cop was performing an off-duty job where he was requested to enforce the no jaywalking law in effect on the block between the hotel he worked for and the hotel across the street.

Sky News has just announced, in serious tones, that the end of the world is nearer now than it has been for the last twenty years.

McTag I'll make your day a little brighter. Still a nice 30 degrees here and about to hit the beach for a swim. Tropical Monsoon rains fast approaching and about to bring us some welcome relief from the terrible drought we've been experiencing.
