....and I bet it went down well, Sarah.

So....any complaints from the neighbours, regarding the bawdy behaviour?

Did anyone happen to see part 1 of "Lilies", on the Beeb, Friday evening?

I had my sister over from Tas and was otherwise occupied, taking her round some old haunts (mostly pubs, I'm glad to say) from way back when.

I forgot all about taping it, and was wondering if it was as good as the write ups claimed.

It'll probably be repeated on some obscure Beeb channel in the near future, so all is not lost I suppose.

Sounded good though.

Press blurb....

No, not seen it, and I missed Rider Haggard and John Buchan too.
My family think they have got some TV rights here, and I lost the fist-fight.

Made a nice casserole with braising steak but lacked a good pud.

I didn't do much myself today.

I didn't run 10 miles round the winding, wet roads with a haversack of bricks for company and I didn't do 200 push-ups either which explains why I didn't have an ice-bath. I didn't do any gardening or decorating or anything remotely connected with rendering my residence into a symbol of my superior personage. I also didn't ring the BBC to tell them I could have made a better programme about Sir Henry Rider Haggard than the one they have just delivered stood on my ear.

In fact there's a load of things I didn't do today. I didn't send a lot of PMs I might have done and I didn't leave a scorrick on any of the plates that have been put before me.

If I don't post this post then tomorrow night I'll be able to say that I didn't post that post about what I didn't do today.

But I think I will so I won't.

I did go for a long(ish) run today - about 1hr 15mins running along the River Vltava in the sun (amazily warm, though there was a chilly wind to stop me overheating!) then walked back up the hill to my flat (another 30 mintues "warm-down").

After that I only tided and pottered around my flat but feel good to have achieved something on the way to my triathlon, having swum yesterday as well.

Have a great start to the week, everybody. Well, as good as it can be!

Off to bed now.

Thats a shame Spends, you could have had a really stimulating conversation.

Tico, I've not much sympathy for the English historian either. Any intelligent person should known the risks of getting the wrong side of an American law officer. But the point is he didn't initially recognise him as a law officer. He was challenged by an off duty cop working as a security guard. I'm pretty sure if he had realised it was a policeman, there would have been no incident.

I'm sure there's more to this than we've been told. The conference that the historian was attending was apparently held in two hotels separated by the street.
There must have been dozens of delegates crossing the street at times.
The "cop" wasn't even on duty? WTF?

What aren't they telling us? The choice middle English epithets used by the prof?

I cant see the off duty cop being all that interested in some old dude jaywalking unless there was something else. A prior exchange?

Just been watching some real life American cops on one of those camera follows police car type shows. Do as you are told all is fine, if you fight "bammo".

And I cant say I blame them they have to put up with a lot of shite.

That was of course only a joke. There is no Shipping Forecast area Dover West and Down a bit. So the real answer must be Plymouth.

Righto. I wont remind you how bad smoking is. how silly you were to start etc. Perhaps you could wear the patch on your forehead, like a warning "stand back, smoking withdrawal zone"

anyway good luck with it.
