Right it's Friday. I'm going over to Boothstown today to talk to my mate Jim.

Smorgs, are you feeling any better (in yourself)?. I know you're going through some stuff at the moment. Be of good cheer.

His motives are pure. He's training up an away team to come "home" and flog the Motherland. The bastard, ...

It might mean he's earned enough to frack around for a while. Good for him.

In today's LA Times...

... one reader, citing Beckham's politeness, reckons he could run for mayor in five years' time.

They do such in California, n'est-ce pas?

Washed up as a footballer, probably. But I would consider it for a million dollars a week.

Or a couple of quid if you promise to auction it for charity.

I don't know how to answer this without sounding crass or flippant, Sarah.

You're going through some real sh*tty stuff at present, and I just hope that things turn around very soon.

You deserve a massive slice of good fortune, Ms M.

Hmm.

I once paid $100 for an Andy Chapman jersey, which he signed for me. He played professional indoor soccer (yes it's a sport) for the MISL Wichita Wings in the 1980s.

I'd be willing to trade that straight up.

Cripes.

I almost think it a duty to spend a night in a hotel pampering smorgsie.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm a shagged out old has-been and lack confidence in knowing how to pamper a lady with so many troubles I would feel it incumbent upon me to put my foot forward and stand up and be counted.

And I also have to think of my intellectual committment to a celibate and ascetic life style and my neurotic fear of debauchery which a sergeant once described for me in lurid detail.

Were I not to be suffering under these millstones of disadvantage I would volunteer post-haste as it sounds as if it might be good fun.

But what I might do is try to make her like her job more. I tried before once and got a stream of abuse. It would be a start.

I think it was Stendhal who said that the world didn't allow a good looking bint to starve.

Smorgs what can I say? I'm so sorry to read about your woes, your offer sounds tempting though, I'd gladly shout you a plane fare instead of a bus-fare but there is one big handicap and that consists of three letters, MRS. Smile

Chin up girl, there must be better times ahead, my best wishes go with you.

spendi - that's a great post and I'm sorry if I barked nonsense at you previously.
